Five Reasons We’ll Be Seeing “Assassination Nation”

Assassination Nation already looks like a prediction of the future that we can’t help but think might be coming but can only hope is just a fantasy. Of course it’s not something we wish for but there are a few reasons why people will be going to see it. The reason might be to reaffirm that we’re all fundamentally good on the inside, or it could be to see what kind of reaction the movie provokes. Then again the reason could be that we just want to watch a movie born from a mind that thinks what we’re all afraid to say, that humanity is heading down a very perilous road as the future continues to unfold, and it starts with the youth that we’re hoping will change the world.

What it will change into is still anyone’s guess at this point.

5. It has a young and exciting cast.

So far a lot of the cast looks to be younger and not as well known to the public, which is somehow exciting and even more indicative of the film’s theme and how it might be aimed at a different demographic. Likely as not it will be either embraced and/or reviled by one age group, but it will provoke a reaction within different generations as it seems geared to do. This is true of many films but it still seems to something to watch for in this movie.

4. The content looks like something out of a comic book.

This can be said of a lot of movies but the grandiose feeling of this movie so far is one that seems typically born out of the pages of a comic book and therefore not as based in reality as one might think. However, the case for it being a serious movie is still strong enough thanks to the fact that it’s not so outlandish that it couldn’t possibly happen. For instance no one appears to have superpowers, so realism is still a very big factor.

3. The style of filming makes it look more enticing.

The cinematography brings back the feeling the Blair Witch Project kind of filming in which the screen bounces and jumps occasionally as though to give the impression that the film is being shot by amateurs. This simulated style also grants people the feeling of being able to watch the type of homemade videos that are so prevalent on YouTube and social media these days.

2. It carries a very distinct message.

The movie is essentially about the impact of social media on the lives of those it impacts and who choose to let it do so. However it’s also about just what a few individuals might choose to do should social media be used against them. The idea that twenty percent of the population is either bad or good and the other eighty can be swayed to either side is a scary thought, it also makes you wonder just which side you fall on.

1. Nothing attracts people like a bit of drama.

People are attracted to drama, to tragedy, and to all things that are the exact opposite of what so many claim to want. Assassination Nation is bound to give them a very deep look at what they would never want to happen, and it will draw them in all the same.

I smell a cult classic coming on. Unfortunately there’s no release date yet, but hopefully it should be announced soon.
