Five Pivotal Moments from Black Lightning Season 1

Jefferson Pierce is a man on a mission. He is also known as Black Lightning, a superhero who is working to keep his family in one piece. As it turns out, he was known as Black Lightning once before, when he was much younger. He also knows what it’s like to deal with the pressures of being a superhero, tasked with keeping so many other people safe, all while trying to conceal the fact on a constant basis. All he really wants is a normal life, so he made the decision to let go of being a superhero several years ago. The thing is, his daughter is now in danger and the only thing he can think of to save her is to go back to his old ways.

If you think this sounds pretty intense, you’re right. The basis for the show itself is one that definitely has the potential to grab hold of you and refuse to let go. That being said, there are some especially pivotal moments during season one that you might want to make note of. Five of them are listed below, along with links to the YouTube clips for each one.

1. Black Lightning Season 1, Episode 13

This episode serves as the season finale and it certainly is an exciting one. Jefferson has been in an epic battle and things have not gone well. Be forewarned, there are some major spoilers here, so if you don’t want to know what’s going on before you actually watch the episode, you should probably stop reading right here. Now that you’re aware, it’s time to get down to business. Jefferson is close to death. As he tinkers on the brink, his father starts talking to him, convincing him to wake up. He does regain consciousness, but he has lost his powers. Just when it all seems hopeless, he discovers that his daughter Jennifer has powers of her own and she is capable of restoring his, which she does.

2. Black Lightning Season 1, Episode 10

Jennifer is having a confrontation with one of her friends and it causes her powers to go haywire. She’s still learning how to control those powers and when she gets upset, she struggles to keep things in check. Meanwhile, there are questions about her father’s involvement in things related to children from three decades earlier.

3. Black Lightning Season 1, Episode 12

The episode deals with some rather intense moments surrounding the intended capture of Black Lightning by Tobias, who has made capturing him his personal mission. Meanwhile, Jennifer meets a new friend in the form of Khalil, who just might prove to be important in helping to rescue her father from his captor.

4. Black Lightning Season 1, Episode 5

This is another clip that focuses mainly on Jennifer. It’s easy to understand why so many of these pivotal moments during season one focus on her, as she is the reason that Jefferson made the decision to become Black Lightning once again. Here, she gets into a fight and proves that even though she sometimes struggles to make the right decisions, she is quite capable of holding her own when the chips are down.

5. Black Lightning Season 1, Episode 8

This is the episode where Jennifer initially gets her powers. When the clip starts, she doesn’t even know that she has special powers but when something goes wrong at school and she As you can see, becomes upset, things start to get interesting. This is one of the more important scenes in the entire season because it will prove to be of great importance as time goes on.

As you can see, this is a show that has quite a few twists and turns. It definitely does get interesting from time to time. As a matter of fact, it’s got all the qualities of a good drama about fathers and daughters, right and wrong, and the desire to protect those we love, all with an extra dose of excitement thrown in, thanks to the special powers possessed by the main characters.
