Five Guest Stars That Would Be Perfect on Game of Thrones

A Song of Ice and Fire has lots and lots of characters, including a fair number who never managed to make it onto Game of Thrones. Some of these cut characters are so important that they cannot be done justice without significant screen-time. In contrast, others are much less so, meaning that they would be perfect for guest appearances.

Here are five Game of Thrones characters who would be perfect when played by guest stars:

Aurane Waters

In the books, Aurane Waters was a noble bastard who fought for Stannis but switched over to the Lannisters following the Battle of Blackwater Bay. Through a combination of personal charm and superficial resemblance to Rhaegar Targaryen, he rose to the position of Master of Ships under Cersei, which came with the command of the royal fleet’s newest ships, before setting sail for destinations unknown when Cersei’s regime came crashing down. As a result, he would be perfect for someone like Tom Hiddleston.

Kettleblacks

The Kettleblacks were three brothers who started out as Littlefinger’s minions, switched over to Cersei for the promise of both sex and power, and then got into serious trouble when their scheme to implicate Margaery blew up in their face. If only someone like John Carroll Lynch could be convinced to make a short appearance as one of Cersei’s minions.

Red Lamb

Barristan lived much longer in the books than in the TV show, so much so that he had the time to train a number of the freemen in the fighting style of the Westerosi knight. The most memorable of these knights-to-be was the Red Lamb, a Lhazareen who had abandoned his people’s pacifistic beliefs in preference for vengeance against those who had mistreated them so much. While the character would have to be aged up, one cannot help but want to see Dwayne Johnson as the Red Lamb.

Tattered Prince

Tom Hardy would have made an excellent choice for the Tattered Prince, who was one of the colorful characters roaming Essos in its mercenary companies. To be precise, the Tattered Prince was an ex-noble of Pentos, who left the city when he was chosen to be its prince because of its penchant for sacrificing the occupants of said office but hopes to ride home as a conqueror when he has sufficient strength. Despite his tattered cloak consisting of strips torn from the clothing of those who he has killed, the Tattered Prince was a frightening figure more than capable of playing the tempter in a hellish narrative.

The Freys

There are many, many Freys, which can be attributed to the simple fact that Walder Frey never stopped siring children in spite of the fact that he almost managed to reach the age of 90. As a result, no matter who needs to make an appearance as a guest star on Game of Thrones, there is bound to be a Frey in the books perfect for them, probably named either Walder or Walda because the family was known more for their sycophancy than for their imagination.
