Five Books You Should Read by New Author Tom Foster

In the vast sea of stories that exist on the internet, either on corporate sites with millions of titles or personal sites that do their best to churn out a few books here and there, authors are doing their absolute best to get noticed and simply gain a big enough fan base to turn their passion into something lucrative. Tom Foster isn’t the biggest name out there and he’s not likely an author that many folks have heard of but this student of the written word hailing from the Pacific Northwest does have a voice and is doing his best to make it heard by as many people as can be found. His books are easy enough to find on Amazon and he even has a few titles that just came up as Nook books on the Barnes and Noble website, mostly science fiction and fantasy but with a crime thriller thrown in for good measure as well.

Here are just a few of his stories that might catch your eye and get you interested.

5. Fairy Tale

A good number of us have heard the story of Alice in Wonderland and various other myths and legends as well, but in this tale Tom manages to take a simple story and create a mash-up of many other tales that are linked by the fantasy that creates them, thereby blending the various tales into one continuous adventure that is currently under attack by a force that seeks to do nothing less than eradicate the very idea of the fairy tale. While his interpretation of a few characters might seem kind of odd and even a bit disquieting the idea of creating realms within realms is intoxicating, especially when the supposed savior is someone that has no idea of his true purpose.

4. Strength and Honor: The Sanu’te’ Chronicles Book One

It’s a lengthy title but one that’s well-deserved considering the tragic and devastating tale of the main character. Sanu’te’ is a young woman born from strange circumstances, a child that was never meant to be. Despite her rough beginning however she was eventually taken from her desert tribe on the strength of a prophecy that had been circulating among the order of Khoranthus for generations until she was finally discovered. While many people might scoff at the idea of a female knight or a female-driven fantasy it’s important to recall that it wouldn’t be the first of its kind, though the story is indeed one of the most violent.

3. And 6 Shall Come

You might get the feeling that Tom is into flowery titles that don’t give away much but once you delve into his books you’ll find that his style is a lot more hard-hitting and only uses excessive prose when it’s truly necessary. In this science fiction tale he dives into the premise that there is no one galaxy, nor is there just one version of any given person throughout the vast expanse of realities that might exist stacked atop or to the side of one another. Yes, it might sound like The One with Jet Lee, but instead of a singular conflict six different warriors are drawn together to save an entire galaxy by reminding its many different species of the common enemy they share.

2. Phonebook

The question of how a killer picks their victims is almost always of interest to many people. But what might happen if you had no idea just how a killer picked their next victim, and even worse didn’t kill them in the same exact way? Darin Felder is a former police detective turned PI that works closely with his former colleagues and has been on the trail of the unknown killer that’s been leaving mutilated corpses in their wake for years, but has only ever found a couple of clues here and there to go on. As the chase continues however the killer begins to make it a little more personal as fate begins to close in on both Darin and the killer, leading to a showdown that neither might walk away from.

1. Of Light and Shadows

While parts of the story read like Children of the Corn and others read vaguely like a comic book this story takes on a very gritty and dangerous aspect that pits the children of the Long Beach peninsula against one another following a bloody coup that sees the younger generation supplant and even overtake their elders, switching the natural order in a way that makes absolutely no sense. When nine of the surviving high school students realize they’ve been selected for a higher purpose however the stakes are suddenly raised as their home becomes a battlefield upon which the forces of the Light and the Dark will vie for dominance. Anything less than survival is no longer an option.

He’s new and therefore kind of raw in his delivery, but there’s no doubt about it that Tom Foster is someone that might shake up the literary world if given a chance.
