Fan Art: If Disney Were Anime

Fan Art: If Disney Were Anime

Disney characters are always being re-imagined into different characters and with different venues around them and honestly I think it’s great. Some are a little more disturbing than others but as anime these Disney characters showcased below look pretty cool. DuckLordEthan must be a lover of anime and Disney alike because quite honestly the artist has captured a look that is not only masterful but it’s also kind of nice and refreshing. It’s always great to see what someone else comes up with in regards to something that’s already been established. The chance to see what other people are thinking and how they feel about certain things is always enlightening. Plus the talent on display is very impressive.

DuckLordEthan drew this cute fan art of Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Lilo and Stitch and Mulan if they were anime…

Beauty and the Beast

Fan Art: If Disney Were Anime

There’s something about anime that makes it seem like an easier art form than traditional sketching. But regardless of that this rendering of Beauty and the Beast is very interesting. Belle looks just a bit cross-eyed, but maybe that’s a matter of perspective. Beast however definitely looks more like a Satyr than the traditional beast in the movie. It’s an interesting and provocative look though, so well done.

Snow White

Fan Art: If Disney Were Anime

Call me crazy but Snow White actually looks a little tougher in this version than she does on film. The full length gloves give her a kind of rough and tough demeanor that the original character didn’t have, though she is still obviously feminine and quite young. She has more of an impish quality to her than the earlier cartoon might have conveyed, and in truth it is in keeping with the times when more people want the traditional princesses’ to toughen up just a bit.

Lilo and Stitch

Fan Art: If Disney Were Anime

Stitch still looks like a little scamp and it’s easy to believe he’d still be something of a troublemaker, but his new look is a little more personable for some. I actually prefer the alien look but all in all this is an impressive drawing that brings back the old feelings of the cartoon movie in a way that offers both simplicity and a feelgood nature that a lot of people associated with the film.

Mulan

Fan Art: If Disney Were Anime

Mulan is definitely one of my personal favorites based entirely on the story itself. A young woman takes the place of her father in the royal army and masquerades as a man in order to serve her country, it’s a very touching tale and one that is born from a supposedly real story of a young woman that did just this. Obviously Disney took a few liberties here and there but the story was still gripping and well done enough that it became a time-honored classic. While the switch from lady to soldier is depicted here it would seem that the artist had as much trouble making Mulan look like a boy as Disney did in their film. It’s quite alright though since the rendering is quite good and very enjoyable.

Some fans are truly gifted and it shows.
