Remember the time that Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis starred in the film Friends With Benefits? Well during a press conference presumably in Russia or at least somewhere a Russian reporter was present Mila Kunis got to show off her fluent Russian in a way that was kind of comical and at the same time very supportive of her costar. Timberlake was wearing a translator device in his ear so that he could actually understand what was being said, though it seemed to be a little behind in the translation since he didn’t quite catch everything until the very end. That’s okay though, Mila was right up on it and fired back at a single journalist that wondered just why Timberlake was bothering to go from show business to movies, asking why it didn’t seem like he’d done enough.
Kunis managed to get the crowd on her side as she asked the reporter why she was there, and why it didn’t make sense that Justin would be doing whatever he could to expand his career, and she was doing it all in Russian to make it even better. People don’t seem to remember that Mila Kunis moved from the USSR with her family when she was just seven years old, and has no doubt been speaking fluent Russian ever since despite becoming an American citizen. Just because she’s a pretty face and a great actress doesn’t mean there’s no other side to her that can’t be accessed, as this clip proves. Plus she doesn’t take the questions of reporters lightly, nor does she seem to particularly enjoy her or her costars being questioned as to the veracity of their position within the film industry. After all, Timberlake made his way up through public appearances as a musician, so becoming an actor seems like a pretty natural transition, right? Kunis wasn’t backing down to the reporter and that’s great, but the bewildered look on Timberlake’s face as she was going off in his defense was even better since he was trying to catch the translation and understand just why she seemed to be getting just the slightest bit aggravated.
If you’ll recall Timberlake wasn’t the greatest actor around when he first hit the scene. In movies such as Alpha Dog, Black Snake Moan, and a few others he was depicted as a guy that talked tough but in reality was kind of a weakling that couldn’t do a lot for himself when it came right down to it. As he’s grown older and matured as an actor however his roles have become a lot deeper and he’s managed to step up as a serious player. The film In Time wasn’t that great but it did serve as a transition point along with Friends With Benefits and then Trouble With the Curve. He’s come a long way since he started out in the acting business, and it’s been fun to watch ever since.
Kunis on the other hand seems as though she was born to act, as her role on That 70’s Show, Black Swan, Bad Moms, and numerous other projects has proven. But this clip also proves that she’s very protective of those she decides to count as her costars and friends. Get ’em Mila.
