Patrick Osborne is known for two things. First, he is an animator. Second, he is a film director. However, it should be noted that these two things are connected to one another when it comes to Osborne, seeing as how he is best-known for directing animated films. One excellent example is a still unnamed movie that will be coming out at some point for Netflix that will see him at the helm.
Here are five things that you may or may not have known about Patrick Osborne:
Studied Computer Animation
Given his career, it should come as no surprise to learn that Osborne studied computer animation when he was in college. To be exact, he studied the subject at Ringling College of Art and Design, which is a private college that can be found in Sarasota in the state of Florida. It is interesting to note that Ringling College started out as a remote branch of Southern College in 1931 but went on to become its own thing in 1933.
Worked on Two Disney Movies
Before he started directing films, Osborne was an animator for Disney. There, he contributed to the making of two movies, with one being Bolt in 2008 and the other being Wreck-It Ralph in 2012. For people who don’t remember the movies that well, the first was about a dog who believed that he had superpowers because of watching too much TV, while the second was about a video game villain who wanted to become a video game hero.
Directorial Debut on Feast
In 2014, Osborne had his directorial debut with a short film called Feast, which was made by Disney so that it could be shown along with Big Hero 6. Like its name suggests, Feast is centered around a Boston Terrier with some rather unhealthy eating habits due to his indulgent owner, whose ability to recognize when his owner is hurting is instrumental in ensuring that particular short film’s happy ending.
Currently Involved in a Number of Projects
Currently, Osborne is involved in a number of projects. For example, he is directing an animated film based on Nimona, which is a fantasy webcomic centered around the titular character in a world that combines elements of both fantasy and science fiction. Furthermore, Osborne is directing another animated film based on Battling Boy, which is a graphic novel centered around a boy-god who has been sent down to save the world.
Latest Project Is a Mystery
Recently, it was announced that Osborne will be directing yet another animated film, which will be based on a script written by Emma Needell. Not much information has been released about the still unnamed movie, but it is interesting to note that it has been revealed that it will be about a young boy who travels into a fantasy world in order to get away from reality. This is not an uncommon plot for such stories, but it will be interesting to see how this one is executed as well as how it will differ from the conventional outline for such stories.
