Doctor Strange 2 Predicted to be Marvel’s Most Interesting Movie Yet

Some folks might think that the MCU hit a major high note with Endgame and could be dwindling back down so as to cycle up again, but that might not be the case. Doctor Strange 2 doesn’t look like it’s bound to be anything but a pivotal and very important moment in the Marvel’s continuing assault on the senses considering that not only will it feature the Scarlet Witch, but interestingly enough, it will finally bring the horror aspect to the MCU in a big way as it’s rumored that Nightmare, a villain know quite well in the comics but not yet on screen, might be coming. Plus, as James Hunt from ScreenRant mentions, Doctor Strange is about to become one of the most important figures in the franchise since the departure of Iron Man has left quite a gap to be filled. Some might think that Captain Marvel would be the new face and therefore the new representative of the franchise, and that might still hold true, but at this time Doctor Strange would seem to be poised to take on that arrogant streak that Tony Stark was so well known for. Plus, while Captain Marvel is a powerful and quite influential character, she still has a lot of development to go through it would seem to really connect with the fans in the same way. The idea of her becoming the face of the company isn’t really a problem, but the presumption that she would do so and the snafu that was created during Brie Larson’s induction to the Marvel universe seems to have soured some people to the idea that she can take the reins and really run with the responsibility that RDJ took on over a decade before. Before anyone cries ‘misogyny’ or anything else, it has more to do with Brie Larson’s inclusion into the realm of heroes and nothing to do with the fact that she’s a woman.

Doctor Strange however goes beyond the cosmic and beyond the run of the mill action movies since his role as master of the mystical arts allows him to become involved in the type of metaphysical matters that many heroes simply can’t grasp or understand other than to try to punch their way through or figure out from a rational standpoint. That’s where a lot of them fail since what lies beyond the mortal realm and goes beyond even the cosmic scale is his domain and as such makes him the expert and the one person among them that can serve in such a capacity. Captain Marvel is great and all and she has a humongous amount of power at her disposal, but Doctor Strange could still teach her a great deal about power and its application. That being said it would seem that both heroes are being poised to lead the MCU in a new direction since the Avengers might not be the biggest thing going any longer despite still being a part of the show. With Secret Wars and other various projects coming up it would be great to see some of the heavier hitters finally come up and make their presence known, and Doctor Strange has been pretty constant when such matters arise.

The addition of the Scarlet Witch to this movie however makes it even better since considering that Strange is the master of the mystical arts and Wanda is one of the most powerful characters that Marvel has to offer it stands to reason that whatever they’re facing off against will no doubt be something that will be something that the rest of the roster might find beyond their abilities. The inclusion of the multiverse into the universe we’ve come to embrace, finally, also indicates that we’ll be likely to see some true insanity and possible world and dimension-jumping as we’ve already seen with the Spiderverse, but perhaps on a grander scale than we’re used to. The MCU is continuing to expand as a lot of people have been wanting, and in many ways it would seem that Doctor Strange is the one to open it so as to let people see just what possibilities have been pored over in the comics. This will be a monumental task to take on in the movies no doubt, but the appreciation that’s likely to be seen by the fans will make it all worth it.

There does seem to be the issue of who will really be the face and the most important member of the Marvel roster at this point but it also seems to be turning into a rather moot point since like it or not there was only Iron Man and he made an impact that the rest of the roster hasn’t quite lived up to yet. In time it might happen that someone will emerge from the ranks without being lauded by the studio and hailed as the next face. But until then it would seem that Doctor Strange could easily vie for that position if Captain Marvel doesn’t pan out as planned.
