Going into last night’s Dancing With the Stars, I truly didn’t want anybody to go home. Before we get to the results, though, we have to talk about all of the other stuff that happened. That’s the problem that I have with splitting up the show. There’s never enough time for the hosts and the judges to do everything on Monday’s show, but they only need a few extra minutes so they have to inject so much extra stuff into the results show on Tuesday just to make it an hour. None of the couples danced, which would have been interesting; instead, we had these professionals performance, a guest spot, a “look back,” and then a musical performance. It was fun, but I just wanted to hear the results. Like I said, though, we have to begin looking at all of the extra stuff.
To begin with, there were two spots where the professional partners were questioned. One was live and the other was pre-recorded. In the live segment, all of the pros said that while they would like their star to win, all of the stars are winners just for making it this far, or something along those lines. Then, in the video package, they asked them again what they thought of the stars, and they gave their strengths and their weaknesses. Pay dirt! I’m not going to bother repeating those negative comments because, when it comes right down to it, they were nit-picking. They were actually describing the strengths. Val said that Riker has “it,” whatever “it” is. Allison and I agree think that Rumer and Val have the strongest connection on the show, and Sharna added, “They’re two passionate people and that comes across on the dance floor.” Derek commented on Noah, saying that he’s an incredible example of saying it’s not about what you can’t do but it’s about what you can do. Finally, Sharna added that Nastia’s has spent her whole life competing for gold so why should she stop now? Again, the flaws were so minute but the praise was so massive!
A few side notes: Again, I didn’t like all of that filler nonsense, including professional dancers Sasha and Emma’s “Dancing Through the Ages.” I am really liking Emma, though, and hope she gets a partner next year. Also, I normally just sing along to the songs that the guest stars sing but tonight, Ross Lynch, star of Teen Beach Movie 2 and brother to Riker, was on and I watched. Is it wrong that I judged his dancing just because he was on the Dancing With the Stars stage?
Finally, the results. Noah and Sharna were told that they were in jeopardy. Riker and Allison were told they safe. Nastia and Derek were told they were in jeopardy. I figured that Rumer and Val were also going to be safe because they have always been one of the top scoring teams. Nope! They were in jeopardy too!
So we had Noah and Sharna, Derek and Nastia, and Rumer and Val in the last few minutes of the show. The hosts then revealed that Noah and Sharan were safe but also that Derek and Nastia, the other top scoring team, got eliminated! Derek and Nastia! That was not the way it played out in my head.
So, in Monday night’s finale, it’s going to be Riker and Allison, Noah and Sharna, and Rumer and Val. I cannot pick a clear winner or make an educated guess because there’s no way to tell who’s going to win it all and take the Mirrorball. Good luck to all of them.
