Could it Be Time for a Dark Angel Reboot on TV?

At the time it was created Dark Angel was almost prophetic in a way since it was set in a darker version of this world that saw children with superhuman abilities being kept in a secluded area well away from civilization as they were taught to use their powers by those that wanted to utilize them as tools for their own purposes. Max, played by Alba, escaped and made her way into the wider world, and ten years later was on the hunt to find those that were like her and possessed unnatural abilities. Logan, played by Michael Weatherly, was a journalist that was seeking to topple those that he believed were oppressing the general public and wanted to help Max since he knew what she was and had become enraptured in a way by her. The show only lasted two seasons but many people are still wondering just why it went off the air and whether or not it could come back.

Reboots, remakes, and the like are still a very big trend in Hollywood, so it’s possible that something could be in the works even now, and if not then possibly later on.

First off, who remembers that Michael Weatherly was in this show?

Honestly many people recall that Jessica Alba was there since she was the main character and, obviously, she was objectified in a big way since she was one of the hottest and most well-known actresses around when her career really got going. But Michael Weatherly didn’t seem to garner a lot of fame from this show since people can look at this and be amazed by the fact that the man who played Anthony DiNozzo in NCIS for thirteen seasons was as one time a very serious individual that had a thing for the main protagonist of the show. Their relationship was never really allowed to blossom into much of anything other than a deep longing but there were moments when they seemed poised to make something of it. As a slight twist however Weatherly and Alba did date for three years and even got engaged at one point. But the 12-year age difference between them became an issue and they split after a while. It would be fun if the show came back to see if these two would be called up to join forces again and possibly rekindle a friendship at least.

It could be a chance for Jessica Alba to make a comeback.

Right now Jessica Alba’s career isn’t worth much since it started going down the tubes shortly after her stint in the Fantastic Four movies. Honestly she seems like a very talented actress and someone that should be able to gain one part or another based on her looks and her talent, but so far she’s kind of slipped down the list from A to B and then all the way to D it would seem, bypassing C altogether since at this point there aren’t a lot of people out there that would seem to vie for her and the talent she still possesses. In fact her role in Machete was probably one of the last that anyone can really remember, though she did go on to act in many other films since. Right now her star is still pretty dim, and it needs something to give it the necessary kick it would take to get her back on top. A Dark Angel reboot could possibly deliver that boost and then some if it was done right, and if the story was given a twist that people didn’t expect.

The show could be another way to empower women.

Seeing as how this film had a woman as the main character it seems that, without the objectification, that it could help to empower women in its own way if it were given the kind of platform that could make it more appealing to men and women and be given a story line that doesn’t involve the lead wearing tight clothing all the time and make sexual innuendos as was common when the show first came out. The original show played a lot on Alba’s sexuality and looks and didn’t really give her much room to really stretch out and do her own thing. But if a new show was given a chance the story could be revamped into something that might be appealing and thought-provoking all at the same time. If nothing else it would be an attempt to bring back a favorite show that people actually liked to watch and would be up for seeing back on TV.

Whether they would be able to bring back the original actors is irrelevant really since the whole idea of the show would be to see if Dark Angel could be made into a viable program for people to enjoy once again.
