Once upon a time there were two young boys who were destined for great things. Both of them had been a star before getting noticed as a pair, and both were on the fast track towards becoming something unique and altogether extraordinary. And then Hollywood took hold of them and that, as we love to say, is history. Corey Haim and Corey Feldman have a Lifetime Biopic coming out as of 2018 that will be dedicating it’s entire running time to the life and times of the two Corey’s and how their lives, once destined for such greatness, eventually became little more than one uncertain experience after another.
If you grew up in the 1980’s and 90’s you likely got to watch the two Corey’s together and in different movies with different costars. Haim was in such hits as Lucas and Silver Bullet while Feldman went on to star in the classic, The Goonies and of course in Gremlins. Both of them starred in The Lost Boys alongside Keifer Sutherland and Jason Patric, and it was this movie that really gave their careers a bit of momentum moving forward. But at that point things kind of went off the rails.
To this day Feldman won’t name the person responsible for raping his best friend more out of self-preservation than anything. While there’s a statute of limitations in California there’s nothing to say that the person responsible wouldn’t find a way to come after him. In short he’s doing what he can to stay in one piece and to preserve the veracity of his words as he’s been a big help in bringing the aforementioned biopic to life. If he’s going to tell his friend’s, and his own, story then he needs to be seen as credible and rational as well. Attacking the Hollywood A-lister that was responsible for the beginning of Haim’s decline likely wouldn’t be the best idea at this juncture.
But the story still needs to be told. The average citizen that remains ignorant of what goes on behind the scenes and beyond the studio might be so arrogant as to claim that Hollywood stars are a bunch of big babies attempting to get attention when their careers start to tank. What a lot of people don’t seem to understand is that Haim and Feldman had way too much going for them to simply dive bomb their own reputations. Haim had been in and out of rehab since he was young, and Feldman hadn’t had any luck either as his career had continued. The abuse that each of them is reported to have suffered did a serious number on both of them since it began at an early age and didn’t stop for quite a while.
This kind of story makes a person look at Hollywood quite a bit differently. If the predators within the Hollywood ranks do exist, and there’s nothing to say that they don’t at this point, then their time should be just about up once the biopic of the two Corey’s hits. Maybe Haim’s family will finally be given a sense of peace if the person that abused their son is finally outed for the world to see.
