While official revenues haven’t come in yet, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been an absolute hit on the Nintendo Switch so far. Not only have gamers been complete obsessed with it, but it’s actually invading other media forms on the internet. Adult sites reported over this weekend that their traffic has dipped over 15% as of the date that Breath of the Wild was released. It’s been a breath of fresh air for Zelda fans who feel invigorated by a whole new adventure with Link.
But what’s the secret to the game’s success? Is there a particular reason why it’s resonating so well? I’ve argued that a game hasn’t gotten this much exposure or obsession since Pokemon GO was released. So far sentiment is still strong and people aren’t even close to getting tired of the game.
