Chance are very likely that if you follow this site on a regular basis you’ll notice that there’s a very strange trend in the comic and superhero universe. Why are so many people named Chris in the game? You’ve got Chris Pine, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Pratt. These are just your stars of the films. I have no idea how many other Chris’s are involved but I’m sure it’s plenty. One of the Chris’s, Chris Pine, hosted SNL last night and in his opening monologue pointed out this strange phenomenon.
Since the SNL crowd wasn’t quite as savvy with Marvel, DC Comics, and the superhero universe, Chris Pine decided to try and simplify things for everyone by singing a song to try and help us differentiate all the Chris’s in the superhero movie universe.
Said song, of course, as he admits halfway through, is Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl” with new lyrics, and one of many sketches last night that involved singing. If it was a stealth attempt to remind us that, aside from being Captain Kirk and Steve Trevor, he was the prince from Into the Woods, well, mission accomplished.
