Friday’s Young and the Restless brings with it a number of things that we should have all seen coming. For one, we see that Adam and Chelsea are back to bickering about everything in their lives. They were apart for a while during the time that Adam was kidnapped and missing, and they cannot even bother to go ahead and spend some time appreciating one another now that he is back. It’s fairly obvious on Friday that Adam is under his father’s spell and that Chelsea is not happy with it. In fact, their entire argument stems from the fact that Chelsea is furious that Adam is working with his father. He refuses to listen to his wife and stop what he’s doing, and she’s not thrilled. We foreshadow problems in paradise before much longer between these two. After all, she just got him back and now she’s angry with him.
Adam wants nothing more than for Chelsea to have his back in this situation and other areas of their marriage, and she accuses him of being just like his father. Of course, those are words that he does not want to hear — or maybe he does. These two are not going to find a compromise to this situation since Chelsea points out that anytime Victor wants Adam to work with him it always ends up falling over on Adam and the pair are more distant than ever. Adam, stupidly, feels that things are different this time around — much like he has in the past. Later on in the show we saw that Nikki actually had some words of advice for Chelsea. She knows all about being married to a man who is more married to his business than to his wife, and she has quite a few words of encouragement to offer Chelsea about this kind of marriage. Here’s hoping that Chelsea ignores her mother-in-law and does not listen to any of her horrible advice.
Hilary is giving Nikki a hard time once again. She believes that Neil and Nikki are actually having an affair, though she did suspect that they were only faking it. Of course they are only faking it. Nikki wants Victor to get jealous and actually show her some attention for once, and she is not getting her wish. She has continued her fake love affair with Neil, but Hilary wants to be with him. That’s why Devon and Neil aren’t getting along in the first place; since he walked in on his wife and his father sleeping together.
Before Nikki has another moment to herself, she meets with Victor and she comes clean with him about her fake affair. She admits she was trying to make him jealous so that he would pay more attention to her and perhaps spend less time at work. He kisses her, and it seems to pacify her for the moment. However, we all know that Victor will, once again, ditch her for work. This is especially true when Adam comes into Victor’s office and tells him that he told Chelsea everything. This information infuriates Victor, and it very likely will result in Chelsea becoming someone who is in some serious trouble later in. In Victor’s mind, no one should know about his plans if he is not the one who makes the decision to talk about them in the first place.
Devon and Neil are at it again. This time they are at the lab with Dr. Neville and Ashley to find out what is going on with Devon’s investment and Ashley’s prognosis. Of course, these two cannot stop themselves from bickering, and Devon actually tells his father to stop pretending to act like a father who cares and just get out of his life. Jack is in the room, too, and it appears that everyone is suddenly concerned with Ashley’s heath even though they don’t care about it for quite the same reasons as she. When everyone else leaves the room, Neville wants to know if Ashley would like to discuss the fact that they kissed and shared an intimate moment. She does not want to do that, so she tells him that in no uncertain terms.
