Check Out this Entirely Sexist Disney Rejection Letter Sent to a Woman in 1938

While the movie Wonder Woman is apparently helping the movie industry make better strides for the equality of women, there’s still an incredibly long way to go.   Women have long been objectified and used in the movie industry in a way that’s appalling, disrespectful and flat out wrong.  In today’s day and age it’s obviously way better for women than it was 50 years ago or even 20 years ago, but women are still leaps and bounds behind men in the hierarchy, which is quite sad.

Movie studios are still incredibly picky when it comes to women of all positions but this mostly pertains to acting and directing.  Women are held to a specific standard that men simply aren’t.  Age and beauty are humongous factors for a woman’s success in Hollywood whereas for men these rarely if ever matter.  And we’re not even talking about pay disparity which is also a tremendous problem.

But like I said, as bad as it still is today, wait until you see this rejection letter from Disney back in 1938.  It would almost make women in Hollywood appreciate how they’re being treated today.
