Born on January 22, 2002, in Des Moines, Iowa, Caitlin Clark is the daughter of Brent Clark and Anne Clark (née Nizzi). In addition to their daughter, Brent and Anne are also parents to two sons – Blake and Colin. Clark’s parents raised her in a sports-inclined family with several members who are athletes. Clark’s father played baseball and basketball at Simpson College while her maternal grandfather, Bob Nizzi, coached the football team at Dowling Catholic High School. Nizzi’s legacy in the game still holds sway after many years of service.
Caitlin Clark’s older brother, Blake played college football at Iowa State University. Growing up, Clark played other sports such as softball, golf, volleyball, and tennis. She was coached by her father from the age of five before others like Dickson Jensen took over. He had her compete in basketball recreational leagues for boys when he couldn’t find any for little girls. All in all, Clark’s parents have always been her biggest supporters and she doesn’t spare any opportunity to express that publicly.
Caitlin Clark’s Father Is a Sales Executive
Aside from guiding his daughter to the top echelons of her basketball career, Brent Clark has made a name for himself. He leads the operations at Concentric International as a sales executive and serves as the vice president of the agricultural products supply company. As a student, Brent played basketball and baseball at Simpson College but didn’t take the career to a professional level. He, however, earned First Team All-Conference honors and Second Team All-Conference honors for basketball.
Brent dedicated his time to grooming his daughter throughout her formative years and has always been there to guide his daughter. He would take her on a seven-hour roundtrip to Minneapolis to watch her favorite WNBA team, the Minnesota Lynx play. In his February 2023 interview with KCRG-TV9, Brent expressed how proud he is to be Clark’s father and how much she reminds him of himself.
Caitlin Clark’s Mother Worked as a Marketing Executive
The daughter of legendary football coach Bob Nizzi, Caitlin Clark’s mother, Anne Nizzi-Clark is of Italian descent. She graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha where she earned a B.A. in English. According to her LinkedIn profile, Anne is a former marketing executive with several years of experience. Her last marketing job was as vice president of product marketing at American Enterprise Group, Inc.
Before American Enterprise Group, she was the vice president and insurance business manager for Wells Fargo from October 2003 to January 2011. She also worked as director of strategic marketing at Delta Dental of Iowa for three years and six months. Anne currently works in strategic partnerships for CC22 Ventures, LLC, a company dedicated to boosting her daughter’s profile as a successful athlete.
Clark’s mother hails from an athletic family with her father being the former Dowling Catholic High School football coach Bob Nizzi. Though she didn’t venture into the athletic world, Anne’s three children are athletes. The family also shares a close bond.
