Not every wrestler is as well-known as those that you see in the WWE since the promotions they wrestle for aren’t nearly as big or as affluent enough to put out the kind of notice that the wrestling giant is capable of. This is a big reason why you might not know Brian Cage since he’s been all over and done so much in his career that trying to list it all might require another article in itself. The guy has been a workhorse for whatever company has taken him on in the past and has proven that like many wrestlers he’s willing to put his body on the line in order to give the people a good show and insure that they’re entertained. With that in mind though one might think that he’s proven that he has what it takes to be allowed into the WWE, but there’s something else that needs to happen to be let into the big show. Sometimes it’s hard to gauge just what that is, but it seems safe to say that it’s something different for everyone.
Here are a few things about Brian you might not have known.
10. He was signed to a WWE developmental contract in 2008.
Brian did manage to make his way into the WWE for as long as it took them to realize that he just didn’t have exactly what they were looking for. He was gone by 2009 but he did manage to have a few matches that were somewhat impressive.
9. Cage was a tag team champion along with Justin Gabriel for a short time.
If you don’t remember who Justin Gabriel is you might not have been watching the NXT takeover that had Gabriel, Wade Barrett, and even Daniel Bryan during its run. Gabriel found success in the WWE for a while but eventually moved on.
8. He’s worked with several promotions in his career.
Cage has had a long list of companies that he’s worked for and has given everything to when it comes to his craft. One thing that a lot of people who watch the WWE don’t seem to realize is that some of these ‘new’ wrestlers have been on the independent circuits for years and have been wrestling for much less than the top wrestlers get a lot of the time. In fact some of the lower-tier wrestlers don’t even get paid enough for the effort, they simply go out and perform for the people.
7. Recently it seems he injured his back during a match.
Sean Rueter of Cage Side Seats and several others have reported on the back injury that Cage suffered during a pay per view recently and upon watching the footage it does seem plausible that some people could think that the damage is part of the normal script. Unfortunately it was all too real and Cage was in excruciating pain as he was taken to the hospital. Amazingly though he did manage to finish the match, which is a testament to how wrestlers do tend to finish the show if they can to appease the people.
6. Cage has a decent following on social media.
He’s got quite a history behind him and you can see some of it in photos as he’s met with some fairly popular wrestlers and taken on some that used to be extremely popular in the WCW and WWE. Brian has certainly managed to have a great career away from the WWE it would seem.
5. His wrestling career started in 2005.
So he hasn’t been in there as long as some people but he’s still been in there a bit longer than others, well over a decade now to be honest. That’s a lot of wear and tear to put on one’s body for the sake of the people watching, but obviously he loves what he’s doing.
4. Apparently his net worth isn’t really known.
A lot of top-tier wrestlers are worth millions due to their in-ring presence and what they do outside of the ring. It’s not really certain what Brian is worth though since it seems that his net worth is still being evaluated. At this point though it does seem like it would be fairly high.
3. He’s currently in his 30s.
Being born in 1984 he’s still in his 30s, but with a life spent in the ring for so many years, well over a third of his life in fact, you can bet that his body is slowly but surely starting to feel every little impact that’s being forced upon it. By his 40s it seems fair to say that even if he takes care of himself he’ll really be feeling it.
2. Brian has been a professional bodybuilder as well.
It shows from his build. This guy is seriously stacked and in his Instagram photos you can see evidence of his training and his dedication to his job.
1. His resume is rather impressive.
The list of accomplishments he’s racked up seem like they should be able to let him back into any promotion he wanted, but even if he never sets foot in the WWE again he’s got a lot to be proud of.
Hopefully his back injury won’t keep him sidelined for too long.
