Bob Morley, who was born Robert Alfred Morley, is a talented actor and has been seen in many films throughout his fairly short career. He is best-known for his current role as Bellamy Blake on CW’s fantasy/sci-fi hit series The 100. However, there is probably much you don’t know about him. Here are 10 Things You Didn’t Know about Bob Morley.
1. Morley is Australian
Yes, Morley was born on December 20, 1984, in Australia and grew up on a farm in a small country town called Kyneton. His ethnicity is actually Filipino-Australian; his mother is Filipino and his father, who died when he was young, was Australian-Irish. What is even unbelievable is that he is thirty-four years old!
2. Morley is Not an Only Child
He is actually the youngest of four children. Morley has one older brother and two older sisters.
3. He Always Wanted to Act
Morley has loved acted since he was a child. He studied drama in school all the way to Year 12 in school. He then moved to Melbourne, Australia, where he actually enrolled in engineering classes. However, after a year of studying, Morley knew that line of work just wasn’t for him and decided to revert back to his true calling. He then began studying the La Trobe University, enrolling in Creative Arts.
4. Morley Played Soccer
While attracting agents throughout his attendance of La Trobe University, he also acted in several university short films and theater productions. In addition, Morley did a stint as a soccer player (and not too bad a job, either!) playing for the Australian Football League (AFL).
5. His Career Began in 2005
Morley first began acting in 2005 when he appeared in Dead Harvest, which was a low-budget horror film. Luckily, it didn’t take low for Morley’s brand of acting skills to get noticed.
6. Morley Entered The Next Phase
The next phase of his career involved a performance in 2005 in Angles With Dirty Faces which attracted the casting directors of a bigger show. Morley then was chosen to play the starring role in Home and Away. His character, Drew Curtis, was one of his more famous roles.
7. Morley Did Not Like Taking His Shirt Off
Although he was appreciative of the chance to act, Morley said he felt like “meat bag” on Home and Away. After appearing in a hundred and forty-eight episodes, Morley left the cast in 2008, going on to act in The Strip.
8. He Was Nominated for a Logie Award
Morley might have felt like a “meat bag” taking his shirt off for Home and Away, but the opportunity gained him a nomination for Most Popular New Male Talent, which was his very first career nomination.
9. Morley Competed at Singing
While he was acting on Home and Away, Morley also competed in an Australian celebrity singing competition. The series was called It Takes Two and Morley was voted off after six weeks. Incidentally, the sixth week he actually scored the highest of the series.
10. Finally, The 100
The Strip was short-lived due to low ratings after which Morley appeared in a series of small roles on shows such as Scorched and Sea Patrol and feature film Road Train. However, his biggest role to date, at that time, was when he nailed the role of Aidan Foster in Neighbors. During his stint on Neighbors, Morley put his soccer skills to use and appeared on the film Blinder. After about fifty episodes, Morley left Neighbors and found his place amount The 100.
Bonus: The 100, which is filmed in Canada, earned Morley his first professional award for Alpha Male Madness on E! The role earned him nominations for a Teen Choice Award as well for Choice TV Actor: Fantasy/Sci-Fi and Choice TV: Chemistry. Morley is a definitely one of the most popular characters on this hit TV series that has run for five seasons so far and is set for a sixth.
On a side note, some rumors have circulated that because of this role as a gay man in Neighbors that he is gay in real life. Sorry to disappoint you fellas, but it is not true. In actuality, he has dated several women over the last ten years and it is rumored that he is currently dating someone now.
