Young and the Restless fans know that sometimes you have to go outside the lines in order to make a statement, and that’s what fans do around here on a regular basis. We sit back and watch as the show takes things outside the box, outside the lines, and a little off the beaten path. There have been many moments in the past where we have decided that we don’t know what is going on or how to change what is happening around here, but we have decided there is a certain amount of curiosity among those on the show. We love it, but we do wonder what they are thinking from time to time. And we do have a few very memorable moments to mention. They might not be the most memorable to you, but we have to mention them.
Katherine and Joanne
Do you remember when the late Phillip Chancellor passed on, and it left his wife, Katherine, without a husband? Her friend Joanne moved in with her, and they became very fond of one another? There was a time when this was not a very welcomed subject in the world. Gay story lines weren’t a thing back then, and the show decided they were going to push a serious envelope by making it a thing. They wanted to be sure that people were aware that they could make a story like this famous. The show did not do anything very open or very controversial in the moment. They simply caused these two women to become very protective of one another, they alluded to their feelings being more than just a simple friendship, and there was a time when they exchanged a rather romantic hand touch. It was a time when this was not something people discussed, and now it’s opened the door for so many other shows to go much further.
When Abby Was Always Naked
There was a time when she was called the Naked Heiress. She was rapidly aged — as they do in the soaps — and she decided that she would cross every single imaginable line by showing up naked as often as possible. She did this more than once, and fans never really understood what was going on with her. She was the kind of girl who made it her mission in life to know what was going on in the world of reality television, and she wanted a show of her own. She thought if she could show up naked to everything, create a sex tape, and become famous, she could get a show. The story line didn’t go on too long, though, because a lot of the fans of the show were confused by it. We get it.
The Katherine Chancellor Facelift
Do you remember that time that Katherine Chancellor had a facelift on national television, and she was shown to the world as a woman who wanted to look younger and more attractive? There was not a thing wrong with that, but many fans were upset by it. Jeanne Cooper was actually going through a facelift in real life, and the writers wanted to see if they could bring that story into the show for the fans to check out. It worked, but it was super controversial for so many fans to see someone go through such a personal moment on television. Who know that years later it would be a situation we watched regularly via reality television?
