The Best TV Couples of the Past 25 Years

Although they may be fictional, one of the most intriguing parts of any TV show are the relationships that find themselves into the plot. Whether it’s an obvious one that started during the very first episode, or one that has developed over the course of a few seasons, viewers always seems to pay close attention to what characters seem to have that chemistry between them. Hoping that the writers see the same thing, sometimes we’re given a few couples that make us feel like they’re our best friends in real life, and that wedding bells are in the near future. But even if these didn’t happen for real, they are still the best TV couples of the past 25 years.

5. Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence (Boy Meets World)

For seven seasons, viewers watched these two go from awkward teens who didn’t much get along, to a slowly, developed friendship and finally into a full-fledged romance. Going through an awkward breakup and a few other dramatic moments, Cory and Topanga’s relationship was one that was all-too-familiar with most of the fans who watched this show.

4.Doug Funnie and Patti Mayonnaise (Doug)

These two may have just been cartoons, but don’t be fooled, because the relationship between the two of them was one that viewers could definitely relate with. Doug was the king of letting his imagination run wild, and Patty was always the one dream he wished was a reality, so he naturally allowed his crush to shine through in a number of different ways as most young boys do. Heck, he even wrote a song for her.

3. Jesse Katsopolis and Rebecca Donaldson (Full House)

Although the show Full House matched up three bachelors living in one house with three young girls, it developed into more of a family affair thanks to this couple. Working with Jesse’s roommate and good friend Danny Tanner, once Rebecca and Jesse met, she had the rocker saying, “have mercy,” as he was smitten and pursued her from the start. The two ended up getting married and having twin boys who moved into the house and added another dynamic to an already packed crib.

2. Ross Geller and Rachel Green (Friends)

The relationship between Ross Geller and Rachel Green from Friends was one that every single viewer wanted to happen from the beginning, yet it took years for it to come to fruition. With an up-and-down, on-and-off relationship, the two danced around the issue for awhile before the series finale gave us all some understanding that they would make it work for good. This, too, was a relationship that way too many friends of the opposite gender can relate with, because it’s common as people get older and continue to hang out.

1. Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski (Saved By the Bell)

For any kid growing up in the ’90s, these two were where it was at. From the very first episode, Zack admitted his more than just a crush interest in Kelly, his brunette classmate who had him with one simple look. Whether in middle school, high school or college, fans of Saved By the Bell saw how the two eventually transformed from kids into husband and wife.
