Bella Thorne Speaks About Being Sexually Abused as a Child

Bella Thorne is the latest celebrity to come forward and say she was sexually and physically abused as a child. The actress and singer informed fans of her personal experiences on her own Instagram profile while she was pledging her allegiance to the Time’s Up’ movement. On her social media post, the 20-year-old star told her fans that she was abused from a young age and that the abuse did not stop until she was 14. It was at this age that she started locking her bedroom door and sitting by it all night. In the post, Thorne states that she was constantly waiting for someone to take advantage of her again and praying that it would stop.

She was unwilling to name her abuser in the message to fans, which she posted on January 07, 2018, but encouraged fans not to let it happen to them. She asked them all to stand up for themselves and anyone else who was being mistreated. Since writing the post, Thorne returned to her social media profile to send fans an emotional message of thanks. On the video she posted, Thorne is in tears after reading the personal stories of abuse that her fans had shared.

She told her 16.9 million Instagram followers that she was really proud of them all for sharing their stories with her on Twitter. She had used the caption ‘Stay Strong’ when posting her message of thanks. Thorne has continued to open up to her fans since posting the original revelation and her thank you post and fans. She has engaged with them on Twitter when they have told her of their own similar life experiences.

Although she has not named her abuser at any point, she has made reference to him in her responses on Twitter and has stated that she knew him and will never forget a single part of him. In a separate post, she expressed her concern about the number of people who go unnoticed and continue to suffer at the hands of an abuser.

These posts have left fans guessing about the identity of her abuser. She has spoken about her childhood in the past, but this is the first time she has spoken about her experiences of abuse. She was born in Florida on October 8, 1997, and has three older siblings who also work as actors. Her father was tragically killed in a car accident in 2007 leaving her mother to bring up four children alone. Thorne was diagnosed with dyslexia and struggled with her school work.

She began working as a child actress to help bring in some income for her family. Her first role was as MC Sideline in the 2003 film ‘Stuck on You’. She went on to establish a successful career in both the film and television industries. Bella Throne is best-known for her roles in ‘Shake It Up’, ‘My Own Worst Enemy’, ‘Big Love’, ‘Harry and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day’, ‘THE DUFF’, ‘Famous in Love’, ‘Perfect High’, and Big Sky’.
