Batman Ninja Gets an English Trailer

The English trailer for Batman Ninja is pretty intense. Batman as a ninja and the Joke as a samurai is kind of interesting since if you can recall from anything you’ve ever heard of samurai they’re typically seen as honorable characters, which a great deal of what we would call character flaws. The idea of the Joker having any kind of honor is, well, laughable at best, but thinking that he could become deadlier is something quite intriguing since even without his toys he’s pretty devious and isn’t to be trusted for even a millisecond. But Batman without his vehicles and other gadgets? That seems like it would be closer to a fair fight really.

The Joker would still lose eventually since Batman can out think and outmaneuver him, but with the Joker it’s never an easy victory since his madness is its own contingency plan really. If one method doesn’t work he goes to the next one, if that doesn’t work then he improvises. It goes this way until Batman is finally able to exhaust every one Joker’s available options by incapacitating him, and then the fight is over. The thing about the Joker is that no matter what time period he’s in, no matter the weapons he has, he’s going to find a way to vex Batman in ways that no one else has been able to do in their long history together.

But in a setting like Japan this gives Joker a leg up that he doesn’t always have in the movies and comics. In this time period it looks as though he has his own allies and his own small army of fighters that are willing to die for him. No matter how crazy he gets, the Joker seems to have his own gravitational pull when it comes to people. It doesn’t matter where he is there are bound to be those that are drawn to his ideals and his sense of mayhem. In Japan, this gives him a force to work with unlike anything he’s had before. The lack of modern weaponry doesn’t seem to faze him in the least bit, since really the Joker can kill with just about anything.

Batman is accompanied it looks like by several of his companions, the Bat family in other words, and he does have weapons and armor to utilize, but this time it would appear that he and the Joker are a little more evenly matched. That’s good however since far too often the Joker has to rely on his tricks and his stunts in order to get the drop on Batman or at least think about what it is that he’s doing before diving in. A sword fight between the two is something that a lot of fans will likely enjoy since it’s far more old school and pits them against one another in a way that they don’t often engage in. Joker is usually so much weaker than Batman that a fist fight isn’t that possible. But a sword fight would be epic.
