So the finale was a dream, and a nightmare all at once. You might be shaking your heads and trying to reconcile as to whether last night’s episode of the Bachelorette really happened, but trust me, it happened, it’s over, and it’s time to move on. Rachel did NOT pick Peter, the guy that everyone believed she should go with, and instead wound up with Bryan. Yes, Bryan, you remember him right? The guy that got maybe a few minutes of screen time before the whole Rachel and Peter thing took over again.
Seriously, Bryan’s proposal took all of a few minutes whereas Peter and Rachel’s indecisive back and forth drama took up a good portion of the show. So really, where do people see things going from here?
Considering that Rachel kind of went for the runner-up anyway, this relationship has some serious issues from the get-go.
Bryan might be the winner, but in the end he’s not the guy that Rachel really wanted to end up with. She might seem happy and content but there’s a good chance, better than most really, that she’ll end up ditching Bryan and giving Peter a second chance. It’s almost like the story of a woman being so madly in love with a man that goes away for a while so she picks the other guy in her life that loves her but can’t satisfy her heart like the first guy can. Then she finds out somewhere down the line that commitment or no, the first guy was actually the one she should be with. Yes, the drama is insane and yes, people are equally insane. Especially for airing this kind of thing on air in front of millions of viewers.
How many of you even remember Bryan?
Oh, right, the winner. So, he’s a lucky guy, right? She said yes, he gets the girl, and everything is wine and roses. Right? Maybe, but there was a huge difference between how she acted with him and how she acted with Peter. It was a devastating loss to her when she decided not to go with Peter, and it was more of a consolation prize when she finally accepted Bryan’s proposal. So what’s worse, not going for the guy that can’t just work up the impulse to propose to you after the length of a series, or going with the guy that can actually do it? The real question is how do you find that kind of lasting love in the length of a TV series? Rachel’s sights aren’t set too high if she’s willing to court that many men in such a short amount of time in the hopes that one of them will be THE ONE. And yes, before anyone jumps down my throat about it, I happen to think that the Bachelor is just as ridiculous for the same reason.
Sigh, I would say poor Rachel and Bryan, but I kind of doubt it’s going to last much longer than it takes for the fame of it to die down. You know, about day or two from now? Anyway, if it lasts then maybe the show isn’t as scripted as we think. But if it doesn’t, Peter better keep those arms open because Rachel might be looking for that perfect port in the storm.
