An Avenger Finally Gets The Recognition They Deserve (Comic)

After so long of a wait you might be thinking that it’s about time to give credit where it’s due to a member of the Avengers we’ve been waiting on for so long. Giving the Avengers the credit they deserve isn’t always easy considering that in the comics there are so many of them. Plus the fact remains that in some canons Black Widow hasn’t always been the most moral person in the world. At one point in the Ultimates canon she even turned on Tony Stark after infiltrating his life and killing his butler. Thankfully though Tony was at least a few steps ahead of her and smashed her upside the head with a champagne bottle after incapacitating her with a host of microscopic machines that allowed her to work her own Iron Man suit. Hawkeye finished her off not long after that with an arrow to the skull.

So yeah, that’s not exactly movie canon, but the Black Widow has put in her time and all that, but if you want the truth of it, beyond the current canon and all that, she’s not an original member of the Avengers. If you want to go back in time and see just who founded the group you’d be looking at Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Ant Man, and the Wasp. Captain America would come eventually but the initial group didn’t have all of the Avengers as they stand now. The Wasp was there long before Black Widow and yet she’s just now coming onto the team, or at least she’s just now making her way onto the big screen.

The argument that she and Ant Man should have been there for a while by now is one that could easily be made and reinforced with past facts and data, but obviously those running the MCU didn’t see it that way and didn’t feel the need to include her until now. That’s unfortunate really since she’s one of the more interesting Avengers in that she has more abilities than Black Widow and is just as deadly in many regards, more so in fact than the dangerous Russian could ever hope to match. You saw in Civil War how Ant Man was messing with Iron Man’s suit right? Well, the Wasp is a more weaponized version of Ant Man, and she can fly on her own. So in truth, she’s a little deadlier than Ant Man and is able to dish out a lot more damage. Plus, in this version she’s a much better fighter than Ant Man since she was trained by the originator of the name and the suit.

So yes, it’s time to finally recognize her and admit just how valuable she could really be to the team. She might not be as powerful as some of the others but if you’ve ever read the comic books then you might be able to gain a better understanding of just what it is that she can do. The Wasp can become small enough to traverse the inside of a person’s body and do some rather substantial damage if she wanted. Just because she’s not the biggest or the strongest doesn’t mean she can’t do some major damage. And chances are you won’t even see her coming.
