We are two 22-year-old twins brothers from France, Anthony, and Florent. We are both Master’s students at a business school. Passionate about travel and atypical places, it is quite natural that we discovered urban exploration. This passion grew up after our first exploration in a former sanatorium. It was a real revelation.
We travel all over France and other European countries to rediscover a once sparkling heritage. It is also to find ourselves in a parallel universe conducive to questioning and wonder. Our project is called “Symphony of Decay”. The passion for photography came to us 3 years ago. We started with our smartphones. We then perfected our skills until we bought a DSLR camera. Today, we own a Canon 700D and a Sigma 10-20mm f4.5-5.6 ultra-wide-angle lens.
Last year we have spent 10 months in Budapest, the capital city of Hungary, as part of an Erasmus program. Because of our attraction to forgotten places, it was natural that we went in search of the most awesome abandoned places in the country. Here is the result of our most beautiful explorations. Today, several places in this series have been renovated, destroyed or simply closed down.

The city of Budapest is full of beautiful inner courtyards.

One of the most beautiful places we have ever explored. Abandoned for decades, the place today is nothing but a ruin and a squat.

This is the Art Deco control room of the abandoned power plant.

This palace is abandoned since the early 2000s. It is used to be the headquarters of a big company in the country.

The interior of this former palace is impressive. It is used quite often as a filming location.

No more used since the fall of the USSR, the place today is a beautiful ruin.

One of the most impressive structures we have ever visited. The place was used as a movie set for the movie “Blade Runner 2049”.

This magnificent palace located in the city center of Budapest has been abandoned for years. The place has been renovated into a hotel.

This huge resort complex has been abandoned for decades. During the Soviet period, the complex was very popular among high-ranking government officials.
