When fans heard there would be a Winnie the Pooh Horror movie released directly to DVD in late 2022, no one believed the rumors. It’s not possible to take A.A. Milne’s beloved Pooh bear and turn him and his friends into murderous fiends, but someone is doing it – and not many people are happy. The lovely story of Winnie the Pooh is such a darling story, and it’s one that should be told before the new Winnie the Pooh horror movie is released.

The Story of Winnie the Pooh

Everyone knows Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Rabbit, Owl, and Christopher Robin. It’s a heartfelt little story of a bunch of animal friends and their favorite boy, and it’s been around since we were all kids – since before, actually. We grew up reading books written by A.A. Milne and carrying our stuffed animals. We watched the Saturday morning cartoon. We grew up with Pooh, even if we didn’t know his true story. Winnie the Pooh is a real bear, and Christopher Robin is a real boy. When A.A. Milne decided to author a children’s book in 1926, he used his son’s bear. His son is Christopher Robin Milne, and his bear is Winnie the Pooh. All the characters in the story with the exception of Rabbit and Owl, are based on real animals by the real Christopher Robin.

Pooh might not be the smartest bear on the block, but he’s always acknowledged the fact that he might not be the most intelligent. However, he is the nicest, the kindest, the most loving, and loyal, and he is a friend you can always count on. His story is always one that leaves you feeling so good about yourself and about the world, and it’s a travesty to turn this story into a horror film.

Winnie The Pooh Horror Movie Information

The Winnie the Pooh horror movie is titled Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, and it’s headed directly to DVD in late 2022. We can see why – it doesn’t seem like the type of movie that will do well in theaters. The premise of the film, however, is that Christopher Robin decides to abandon his animals. He is no longer their friend. He no longer shows up in their lives, and the animals of the 100-acre wood cannot handle this abandonment. Winnie and Piglet are devastated. Instead of handling their issues in a proper manner, however, they decide to go lose it and go on a killing spree. Rhys Waterfield is the writer, and he explains that since being abandoned by Christopher Robin (for college and a life partner, at that), the animals go back to their feral ways and begin killing for sport.

If you’re squeamish, you might want to stop reading now. The two got hungry in the woods, killing off their friends and eating them. So, you won’t see the others. This movie is made possible thanks to the fact that A.A. Milne’s stories are being released into the public domain. They won’t cross over into any copyright issues, so you will see some differences. However, the fact of the matter is that someone decided to take this wholesome story and make it a horror film. While there is no official release date yet, it is imperative that you do not allow your young children to see this. The costumes and the sight of Pooh and Piglet alone are enough to give your kids horrible nightmares.

What does it mean that it’s part of the public domain? While the Disney version of Winnie the Pooh is something that no one can reproduce due to copyright laws, there is no reason now that anyone else cannot create their own versions. Essentially, Disney no longer has the exclusive right to this character, the storyline, or anything else. Some things are still copyright infringement issues, but this movie is being very careful to keep those things at bay so they can release it without any legal ramifications. Additionally, there is now a chance anyone may decide to do anything they want with this character, so this might not be the last controversial thing you see Pooh and his friends doing.

Will This Movie Do Well?

It’s not going to the theater, so we assume it’s a low-budget production. The official trailer isn’t overwhelming, but it’s not happy, either. The Winnie the Pooh horror movie likely won’t win any awards or become anyone’s favorite, but people might watch it simply because they want to see how this might go and what they might get from it. This is not the traditional story of Winnie the Pooh, and it’s not one you want your kids to see. When an official release date is issued, we will let you know. For now, however, you can watch the trailer online and see for yourself if this direct-to-DVD video is something you’d like to bother with.
