There are still a good number of singers on The Masked Singer that haven’t been unveiled in season 2, but there are enough that have been unmasked that it’s been fun for people finally sit back and wonder how they didn’t get the hints that were thrown at them. In all fairness though some people didn’t exactly throw out the kind of hints that the average viewer might have understood, and a couple of celebrities might not be as well known as the show seems to think. With that in mind Amber Garrett of Distractify managed to report on those that have been unmasked while recapping those that haven’t, making it known that there are still clues out there that are worth taking a look at since they might make it known just who is behind the mask and what kind of surprises people will be experiencing once the singers are revealed.
Here are those that have been revealed thus far:
The Egg – Johnny Weir
The two-time Olympian skater gave a rather obscure and kind of hard to follow clue about going for the gold, which obviously tipped some people off but likely confused others. He lost to Skeleton and was unmasked, and it’d be interesting to see just how many people went ‘aha!’ and how many were pleasantly surprised.
Ice Cream – Ninja
There isn’t much said about Ninja and it’s not much of a wonder why since if a person isn’t plugged into the gaming and YouTube world then there’s not a big chance that they would know about him or that he’s a professional gamer. Sigh, remember the days when playing games wasn’t a profession, because it was counted as goofing off?
Panda – Laila Ali
When the clues point to boxing it’s still a toss-up since there are a lot more female athletes out there these days than ever before, but you can imagine that she’s done her dad a great service just by being who she is. After losing to the Leopard she had to unmask, but I’m betting a lot of people were still surprised.
Eagle – Dr. Drew Pinsky
I’ll fully admit that I never knew Dr. Drew’s last name until now but I also didn’t see him as the type to go along with something like this. You learn something new about people all the time when you decide to look around and this was kind of a pleasant shock to realize that he’s into having fun as much as the next person.
Skeleton – Paul Shaffer
If you’ve ever watched the David Letterman Show then you know who Paul is since he’s been around for a while and he’s been one of the most loved and respected members of the show apart from Dave. This wasn’t much of a shock and it was great to see him when he was unmasked, though you’ve got to wonder if a performer like Paul has a certain edge that might make this a little unfair. Seeing as how he was unmasked it’s not that likely.
So far there are still a few that have yet to be unmasked such as the Butterfly, the Tree, the Thingamajig, the Rottweiler, the Ladybug, and the Black Widow. People have their guesses as to who might be under these elaborate costumes and masks, but as of yet there’s nothing for certain to point out anything that might hint at who’s really coming on stage. Quite honestly this show is kind of kooky and a little off kilter in a few ways but even more so is the level of security that is being given to make sure that no one gets to know who’s making their way into the studio under any circumstances. At this point the idea of any leaks getting out is less likely than it would be for the White House or a new movie coming out. Hell, you might be able to get the synopsis of the next Star Wars movie before you get to find out who’s under the mask on this show, it’s that tight.
And honestly one can’t make the argument that everyone is playing ball so the idea of security being this tight is a myth, since film scripts are usually under lock and key but the moment a ‘leak’ happens, the entire world knows about it a few minutes later. So yes, the security detail on this show is just THAT good, which is funny in a way since if we had the kind of security for our government or even just for the movies that people don’t want to see leaked, the world might be a very different place. All in all though if a show wants to keep its secrecy this badly it’s obvious that they’re going to find a way to do it. As to who’s under the mask, well, you’ll just have to wait and see.
