You’ve likely heard the term “Dear Abby” more than once in your life and have either known just what’s going on or have been slightly mystified since it wasn’t something you knew much about. But despite whether you know about Abigail Van Buren or not you should be able to deduce from her site that she’s all about giving advice to others in their times of need and was quite sought after by many people. The fact that such a column still exists today is hardly a surprise since there are always people that are bound to need personal help and will turn to others in their times of need. The Dear Abby column has been up and running for a while since as I already stated people will always find the need for it. But throughout the history of the column it has done a lot of good for many people. In terms of who should play the woman that helped to start the column however there are many choices to be considered.
Here are just a few of them.
5. Emma Stone
Why Emma? Well, why not? She’s been seen to play a very carefree individual throughout a lot of her movies, but she’s also been seen to play a very serious character as well. The versatility she displays is a must-have for many of the movies she’s been in, and while she might not be the closest in appearance to the woman that started the whole thing that’s a small matter and can be fixed with a new hairstyle and perhaps some makeup here and there. In terms of acting she has what she needs to make it work and one of the more talented women on this list. She is at the bottom however due to her overall appearance, but nothing else.
4. Reese Witherspoon
Reese is a woman that can play just about any role and has proven it throughout her career. While she can be bubbly and act like an airhead she can also tone it way down and act in an intelligent and convincing manner that makes her quite alluring in more than one way. The fact that her younger years were spent on movies that didn’t exactly paint her as the most sophisticated individual isn’t a detriment in the least since it gave her a nice foundation to work from and allowed her a great deal of growth as an actress. To this date she’s matured a great deal in her roles and is the type of woman that can be classy, elegant, and then silly and goofy in the next breath.
3. Evan Rachel Wood
This might come as something of a shock to some people mostly because you don’t get to hear about Evan all that often since her biggest stint as of late has been Westworld. But watching her and Jeffrey Wright in their little therapy session kind of rang a bell indicating that she might be a good pick for a role like this. Being the bloodthirsty host doesn’t seem to suit her quite as much, but when she’s being calm and composed it seems as though a very real spark of genius can be seen. So far she’s been great in everything she’s seen in even if the projects haven’t all been masterpieces, but it does feel as though she could flesh this role out quite nicely.
2. Diane Krueger
Diane has been seen in a few movies to either be the damsel that needed someone to save her or the strong-willed woman that didn’t take any garbage from anyone and was fully ready to state her opinion when she felt the need. That says that she could take on this role without much difficulty, if any really. While she seems to have been kind of jumping around from one project to another without really getting as much notice as she used to, it does feel as though this one would be a wake-up call to people saying that she’s still there and she’s still every bit as good as she’s been in the past.
1. Chloe Grace Moretz
Quite honestly it seems as though Chloe would have to be aged up a bit in order to make this work, unless of course it was an origin of how the column started. The movies she’s starred in to date haven’t really forced her to take on an older or more sophisticated role in terms of age, but it does seem as though she could do this even if it was a bit of a challenge. Her acting credits thus far are easily able to justify making this selection and her ability to wow the audience with her performance is enough to think that she’d be exceptional in a role such as this.
It could be an interesting movie.
