1. She is engaged to Cade Foehner
Some of us reach our thirties without any sign of settling down but not Gabby Barret; she is only nineteen but already engaged to Cade. As reported on Taste of Country, although Cade and Gabby have not set a date yet for their wedding, they are eager to get married and start their married life. Foehner is a spiritual man, and he proposed to her on the room of a church in Los Angeles where he first met Gabby and where they got their pre-marital counseling. So now we can only wait until these lovebirds announce their wedding date which is going to be soon.
2. She signed with Warner Brothers Nashville
Gabby took to the stage on May 5, 2019, on American Idol where she performed her new single “I Hope.” It is during this performance that she also announced that she has recently signed with Warner Brothers Nashville, according to Variety. The record label is home to many iconic country singers including Blake Shelton, Kenny Rogers, Randy Travis, Kenny Chesney and many more. With such artists under their wing, we can be sure that Gabby is also going to make her mark all over the globe.
3. She is not nervous when performing
According to Blaise Barrett during his interview with Triblive, Gabby does not get nervous performing for an audience. However as she performed in front of the show’s judges, her nerves got the better of her.
4. She started singing at nine years of age
Gabby began singing when she was nine years old, but it was not until she was 14 that her father insisted that she join an all-black choir. Consequently according to Penn Live, Gabby joined Lamb of God Christian Ministries and her rendition of “His Eye is on the Sparrow” was fantastic.
5. Her father has sacrificed a lot for her
When Gabby talked to Penn Live, she said that her father has had to sacrifice a lot for her to get to where she is. Her father, Blaise Barrett, works during the day as a maintenance man at Goodwill, a thrift store, while during the night, he cleans apartments. As if that is not enough, even when they were going through hard times, and they could not afford to pay the bills, Blaise still found a way to drive his daughter to her gigs. His promise to Gabby is that he will die knowing that he did everything he could to make her dreams come true.
6. She finished third on American Idol season 16
According to Gabby Barrett Live, Gabby attracted the attention of the American Idol team through her YouTube channel, and they invited her to audition in front of the judges. She followed their advice, and on October 20 2017, Gabby went to Country Music Hall of Fame and sang Carrie Underwood’s “Good Girl” for her audition. She also sang “His Eye is on The Sparrow” at the judges’ request and that was the beginning of a beautiful journey that led her to almost the finish line. In May 2018, Gabby finished third on season 16 of “American Idol”, and since then she has been on the limelight, for the right reasons.
7. She was bullied in high school
High school is usually the stepping stone to self-awareness. Unfortunately, for Gabby, her high school experience was hell on earth. She attended Serra Catholic High School in her hometown, Pennsylvania but had to leave after being bullied, so she enrolled in high school online; a fact that Daily Mail sheds to light. It must have been a stressful experience for her, and she is determined to help fight against bullying in schools. So in 2017, she organized a tour called “Dreams Really Do Come True”, and she visited high schools in the Pittsburgh area spreading her message to stop bullying, while she also performed.
8. She is a fashionista
Girls start making themselves pretty from an early age, and they will throw tantrums for their parents to buy them make-up and salon kits. Gabby is no different, and although she had stylists who are professionally trained to apply makeup on her and choose her wardrobe while she was performing in American Idol, she preferred to do it on her own. According to her father on Triblive, his daughter is very good at fashion.
9. She comes from a family of ten
We do not have a say in the family we get born into so either we get lucky to have those that care about us or fall into the hands of those who abandon us. Gabby’s family has been behind her every step of the way and since they are all ten that must be a tremendous amount of support. Gabby has three sisters and four brothers, and since she is on the road most of the time, she is bound to get homesick. Fortunately, sometimes some of her siblings accompany her along with their father, and it helps a lot as her father can attest to.
10. She has won two awards
Being on television is bound to get people’s attention, whether positive or negative and it is up to you to ensure that the tabloids only have the best things to say about you. For Gabby, her talent speaks for itself, and it has led her to win two awards. One of the awards is the Smokey Robinson Motown Award while the other is Jackie Evancho Award, as Famous Birthdays reports. Jackie Evancho finished second in America’s Got Talent in 2010 and released a platinum-selling album, O Holy Night. Smokey Robinson, on the other hand, was the Vice President of Motown Records between 1961 and 1988.
