The chances seem good that if you’ve been paying attention to movies and TV throughout the last decade you might have seen Helen McRory at least once or twice. If you’re a Harry Potter fan then it’s very likely that you’ll recognize her since she’s not a very prominent character until the last several movies, but she does make at least a small impact at one point. She was about 22 when she began her foray into acting, not all that young but obviously not too old to get a fresh start either. Some folks seem to take their time when getting into show business while others are thrust into the spotlight as young children and made to adjust as they grow. Helen has been enjoying her career for some time now and has acclimated well over the years, discovering her passion and refining it with each new role she takes on.
Here are a few things you might not have known about her.
10. She was in Harry Potter as Narcissa Malfoy.
Believe it or not some folks still don’t know much if anything about Harry Potter and have not watched the movies. Narcissa was not the worst among Lord Voldemort’s forces however, as her concern for her son Draco often outweighed the effort of fighting against her leader’s enemies. She wasn’t a good witch, but wasn’t the most evil among them either.
9. She was originally cast as Bellatrix Lestrange.
It’s hard to imagine Helen topping Helena Bonham Carter’s frantic and energetic performance as Bellatrix, but she was originally cast for the part. Being pregnant at the time however she had to bow out and was later added in as Narcissa so as to give her the time she needed to give birth and then recover.
8. She’s been a stage actor.
In some ways it almost seems like a commonality among many actors that the stage would call to them in some way, no matter if it’s before or after they start their career. One way or another a great number of actors find their way to the theater at some point.
7. She’s a very positive-minded person.
Helen is always looking on the bright side as much as possible, something her grandmother seems to have taught her. This can be difficult at times and even seem impossible in some situations, but her outlook on life has allowed her to continue to exist as a very positive individual.

There does seem to be a certain thrill that is felt when taking on a new persona for some actors. Many of them tend to enjoy the idea of stepping into the shoes of another person and immersing themselves in the fantasy that is a large part of what they do.

One thing about change is that it is necessary to facilitate growth in life, no matter how it happens. Change is not always pleasant and it’s not always a positive thing but it is necessary to move on and keep moving forward.
4. She’s able to all asleep pretty much anywhere.
Helen has been known to wander off on set and take a cat nap here and there just to refresh herself after a long stint on set or just to recharge her batteries so to speak. The ability to fall asleep wherever she finds the need is something that some folks might actually envy since it allows her to rest and relax even if for a moment.
3. She was very much into art when she was a teenager.
One has to wonder if an interest in art is one of the few things that a lot of artists, from any field and discipline, have in common. It’s likely that this isn’t so since there are actors that could care less about art or anything related to it, but it would seem, at times, that the ability to appreciate the art of others is an underlying similarity that some of the best in the business, regardless of discipline, share.

Peaky Blinders is the kind of show that reminds you before the rise of gangs and their violence in America other countries were practicing this same thing and they were perfecting their brutal and very savage methods in ways that you just don’t see much anymore.
1. She was in Penny Dreadful.
Helen has definitely had her run-in with magic in more than one way since she’s been on the scene and whether it’s a bit darker or geared towards a lighter note she’s performed beautifully since her level of talent is quite versatile.
So far her career has taken several high notes and has made her quite an interesting individual to watch, but there’s no end in sight as she’s enjoying herself at this point in her life.
