Shirley Henderson is one of those folks that just doesn’t look her age no matter what since if you stop and realize this she played the part of a young girl in the Harry Potter movies when she was easily a decade or more older than most of the stars. At the very least she does play a convincing role and doesn’t manage to betray the secret all that much since a lot of people didn’t know this about her until they found out from someone that had actually seen Henderson in something else. She’s had a great career thus far and started out fairly young, as her career kicked off in the late 80s and then really got going in the 90s. Out of many stars she’s one of those that doesn’t really show her age until she dresses or presents herself in a certain way since she simply has a very youthful demeanor about her.
Here are a few things you might not have known about her.
10. She was in the Harry Potter series.
She only makes a big appearance in a couple of the movies but while it’s funny at the time and even endearing one has to think that it’s kind of creepy since in the Goblet of Fire she’s in the bath with Harry and getting awfully cozy with him for a short moment. That was when her being so much older seemed to come into play, but once it was realized no one said much about it afterward.
9. She plays a character crying in the bathroom in two separate movies.
Apparently she does a lot of crying in the bathroom in the Bridget Jones movies as well, though at least she’s playing a person closer to her own age in these films and isn’t a ghost that becomes slightly temperamental when talking to others.
8. She’s won a few very impressive awards.
There are a lot of awards out there that many people know nothing about but the honor of winning is still something to be extremely proud of and Shirley has a large number of awards that have come from her acting career, proving that she is something special on the big and small screens.
7. She’s acted in the Dr. Who franchise.
There are some shows that can either make or break a person’s career and then there are those that are simply impressive to have on their resume. Dr. Who is one of those that could be both depending on how far a person goes with the show. For Henderson it seems that it might be a good way to get noticed by fans of the show but otherwise it’s still an impressive credit.
6. She was consigned to not winning an Oscar by age 30.
Some awards don’t mean as much to some folks as they do to others. Granted, if she’d ever be nominated it would have surely been an honor, but then again if you don’t get nominated then it’s one less pressure in your life to think about.
5. She doesn’t have any children.
People make this choice based on a lot of factors, not the least of which being whether they can handle the responsibility or not. Kids are a lot of work, and while they’re not for everyone they are still quite precious and she respects that at least and believes that they are important to the future.
4. She’s a daydreamer.
These types of folks are sometimes the greatest creators and entertainers in the world and then sometimes they’re the type that just don’t want to go along with the world the way it is. In any case they’re often those that love to think about how the world could be rather than the way it is. It’s not a bad way to live really, so long as your feet touch the ground occasionally.
3. She’s been typecast for a lot of her career.
Thanks to her youthful appearance she’s played a lot of younger roles that have made it necessary for her to act far younger than she really is. It’s hard to explain why some people get to age so slowly and others age so quickly but some are actually envious of the former quality.
2. She enjoys a bit of doom and gloom in life.
It’s possible to be realist even as a daydreamer since the real world tends to creep in now and again to remind us of our limits. There’s nothing wrong with seeing the doom and gloom now and again, so long as we’re not consumed by it.
1. She happens to like American scripts.
Shirley likes the wording and the way everything seems to indicate that people just talk over one another all the time. Some folks might actually find this quite annoying but she seems to like it.
She’s one of a kind, no doubts.
