Young and the Restless fans know that Bryton James is a great actor who has taken the role of Devon to a whole new level. He’s going through one of the most emotional, difficult, and ugliest journeys of his life right now, and he’s doing the most wonderful job of it. He’s been through the loss of a child, he’s married a woman who was on her deathbed, and he’s suffering the loss of his wife. But the thing is that his own sister is the one who was driving the car that killed his unborn baby and his wife. And now he’s torn about his family, she’s facing the ugliest future, and he’s a mess. Which only serves to tell us that Bryton James is a genius. And we want to know more about him.
He’s A Famous Child Star
Did you realize that his famous face is famous for a reason? You’ve seen it for years on YTR, but you saw it for almost a decade on more than 200 Friday nights? You did, and you know what I mean. Bryton is the man who portrayed the lovable Richie Crawford on the hit show “Family Matters” from 1990 to 1997.
He’s A California Boy
It’s not always easy to find people who have been born in California, and who were raised in California, and who stayed there, but he did. He was born in 1986 in Lakewood, and he was raised in Fullerton. Probably because his father is in the music industry and they needed to be close to his work in LA.
He’s Been Acting His Entire Life
Not only has he been acting as long as we can remember, he’s been acting since he was only 2. He got his first role in a commercial and then in some magazine ads, and he was only 4 when he began working for FM. He did a great job, and it’s why you recognize him even if you aren’t sure from where.
He’s Worked With Very Famous People
Getting to work with famous people is fun, but what happens when you are a child who gets to work with famous people? Imagine being a child who was working on a commercial and finding out the King of Pop was your costar? That’s right; he’s worked with Michael Jackson.
He’s Guest Starred in Great Shows
We always loved The Vampire Diaries, and we knew you’d remember when he was on the show. He was the much-hated villain Luka for much of the second season, and we loved seeing him work the part. He was so good at it, and it’s not a surprise he has so many Emmy recognitions.

He’s a Voice Actor
We think he is a busy man. Not only is he a daytime soap star, he also voices two animated characters on two different cartoons on two different networks. He works with Nicktoons and on the Cartoon Network. That’s impressive.
He’s Divorced
He married his wife in 2011, and he divorced her in 2014. They remain great friends, his costar Christian LeBlanc officiated, and things are good. Their marriage didn’t last, but their friendship did.
He and His Show Sister are Best Friends
His sister on YTR is Lily, who is played by Christel Khalil. Did you know they basically grew up together? They’ve been best friends almost all of their lives, and that’s never changed. This must be a difficult situation for them to be in on the show.
He’s a Godfather
He and his show sister, Lily, are best friends in real life, and that means he is her child’s Godfather. Her son, Michael Caden, is a lucky boy. They’ve known one another their entire lives.
He’s A Godfather Twice Over
But to make things more interesting, he’s another Godfather, too. He is also close with his show sister’s show husband, Daniel Goddard. He is the Godfather of his oldest son, Ford. These three are great friends.
