You likely remember Peri Gilpin as the sarcastic, wisecracking character named Roz from the show Frasier . She’s managed to become one of the best memories of the show that has endured throughout all this time and quite honestly she earned that distinction a while back. Out of all the people on the show she’s one of the only ones that ever seemed capable of firing back at Frasier just as much as she wanted in order to withstand his superior attitude and ability to back it up at times. Roz was just basically the foil to Frasier in just about every way, as good a supporting character as there ever could be. So what happened to her after the show?
Well, she hasn’t been idle if that’s what you might have been thinking.
She’s had a few voice roles throughout her career thus far.
Her voice roles weren’t always the biggest part of a movie but she did put her two cents in and it often went further than you would think. In Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within, she played the part of Jane Proudfoot and to be honest she was one of the more memorable characters in the movie. The film itself didn’t get a lot of rave reviews and to those who revered the game Final Fantasy it felt like a cheap knockoff that had almost nothing to do with their favorite game series. But her part was solid and exemplified the attitude she’s shown in so many other productions. She’s also played other voice roles for such productions as the Justice League, Hellboy, and a few others that have gained some notoriety with fans, but other than that she’s been mostly a live-action start that’s managed to lodge her way into the conscious memory of a lot of fans. To be honest she’s one of the more likable individuals that displays a healthy and sarcastic attitude that is fun to watch and easy to enjoy.
She’s guest-starred on a few shows.
Peri has been a guest on shows such as CSI, Modern Family, Drop Dead Diva, and many others. She’s the kind of woman that can just drop in and make a splash and then head on back out after the laughs have been collected. In truth she seems better as a supporting character sometimes since she seems so much stronger in her character and able to deliver on a continual basis, as though it’s better for her to have someone to play off of so that she has more to say and more material to work with. She’s been keeping busy for the last decade and more and has never really slowed down that much in order to keep her career alive. And yet with all that it seems like she should actually be taking more lead parts in whatever she does since she does have the kind of strong personality that it would take in order to keep a show going and possibly make it into something quite popular. Maybe being a guest and supporting character is where she’s comfortable though. It’s best not to rock the boat unless someone wants to take a chance.
Peri has stayed pretty close with members of the cast for a while now.
In fact she was married in her costar Kelsey Grammar’s house, so that can tell you just how close they remain. She’s also godmother to costar Jane Leeve’s daughter, so obviously they keep on good terms with one another and have been supportive throughout the years. Peri has no doubt come to value the kind of friendship that occurred on the set despite any and all rumors about what went on and who did what to who. The kind of rumors and gossip that tend to ruin friendships and tear cast members apart are the type that some folks seem to love spreading around just to see what kind of effect it has on people, but thankfully it seems that the Frasier costars haven’t allowed it to taint their relationships throughout the years.
Peri has definitely been busy after the show but she’s been sticking more to TV than to film as her TV credits are long in counting and include some of the top shows throughout the years. When Frasier left the air it seemed fair to say that a few of the actors might have had no problem getting jobs elsewhere but a couple of them might have had a small bit of trouble. Peri wasn’t one of the latter obviously as she hit the ground running and hasn’t stopped yet. Her career continues to move forward as she’s been seen in so many TV shows at this point that one might think she’s making a career out of being a guest star rather than finding a landing spot. Wherever she goes though she’s still a great deal of fun to watch.
