This week on Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce 5×03 “Rule #97: It Takes Two to Stab Yourself in the Butt” the ladies find themselves in messy love triangles. Exes coming in from every corner, getting ready to stir up the drama pot. The ugly comes out to play, but not all of them end on a bad note.
Abby
Abby has to deal with Mike working with his ex-wife while the two of them figure out this new blended family situation. Things get a little crazy in the McCarthy/Brady household. She’s trying her hardest to go to the dark place where Colette is this demonic ex-wife trying to make a play for Abby’s man but it’s not easy.
Between the flirty texts and seeing the two of them in a situation that seems as though he’s fraternizing after hours, she loses it. It ends up being an innocent situation that she misread but she’s already hit her worst. Luckily, Mike Brady is a smart man who, after putting himself in her shoes, is able to talk it through and the two of them seem to be in a good place at the close of the episode.
However, Colette is a total bitch. She storms in at the end and more or less tells her that Abby’s home will never be home for her children. The same children Abby has been working her butt off trying to get them to like her.
Jo
Jo is in a great place with Albert. She’s in love with a man that treats her the way she deserves to be treated. So when Frumpkis comes back into town looking great, doing great, she can’t deal. This is her ex-husband who was a total wreck and who she left. Seeing him doing well, has her losing it a bit.
Her night out with Albert ends up turning into a tag along for the daddy/daughter date that Frumpkis and Zoey had planned. Much to Albert’s disappoint — and most of the audience watching — she is more so into the life she left behind than the life she could be living right now.
Will Albert and Jo be able to work through this? They left off the episode in a place where it could go either way. There is hope seeing as two have overcome quite a few hurdles thus far. Stay tuned to see what happens.
Barbara
Oh Barbara. During 5×01 all signs were pointing to infidelity on Barb’s part and the signs were right. She did screw her ex while Darrell was out of town eventually leading her to part ways from her lover.
This week, everything comes out into the open as her sister finds out what went down between the two of them. Leon tries to swing things his way and make it seem as though it was all Barb, but sisters have a strong bond. A bond that’s not easily broken no matter how much bad blood is between them.
They’re able to get through and have that long awaited talk they needed to. Unfortunately, her sister is still trying to make things work but she’s at the very least moving past everything.
Putting the past in the past, where that sh*t belongs.
Delia
Delia wants a baby but it isn’t going to be as easy as sleeping with someone. She’s having fertility issues and her best option is IVF — i.e. shooting yourself up with hormone injections in the butt. However, she seems to not do well with needles.
She tries and tries, but can’t get herself to do the shots alone. She reaches out to gal-pal, Phoebe, who had offered beforehand but can’t get a hold of her. In the end, she ends up asking Tony to do it. This whole sequence is bizarre. Hormone injections are not sexy, they made it sexy. Of course Tony was led on in that scene. We all were.
Phoebe
Phoebe is not exactly on board with Delia and her brother. She more or less tells her to stay away. She’s been the helicopter sister lately and giving out advice and wanting to love up and protect everyone and everything lately. She does realize that she needs to get back out there. So she brings out the old dating apps and is ready to take another stroll down Tinder-lane. The first one doesn’t go too well but getting back in the game takes some time. Time she’s willing to invest.
Will she find her “Ever After” before the series closes? Keep watching to find out.
Half way through the season and the ladies are in drama central. How will all of this settle down before the curtain closes for the last time?
