Just when you think things couldn’t get any worse for the 95-year old creator of Marvel comics Stan Lee, the drama gets dialed up to 11 and the stories continue to get stranger and sadder. You might have already heard about the issue of his blood draw that was given the okay with falsified documents. This blood was taken and put into a special ink that was then used to put his name on a large series of comic books. But as strange, and as macabre as that might sound it’s not the worst thing that could happen. You would surely think that a man in his position wouldn’t be able to count all the money he’s been making over the years, but the fact is that he’s going broke very quickly. The saddest part is that he doesn’t have anyone around him that’s not trying to drain him dry.
His caretaker, an old business partner, and even his daughter seem intent on seeing the last cent drained from his accounts as he can’t seem to do anything at this point to stop them. It sounds as though his caretaker is controlling his lines of communication to the world, while his daughter seems to have been after his money for years. The former business partner has had his hands in the cookie jar repeatedly over the years as well, adding to the drain on his financial situation that continues to plague Lee. He’s done what he could in the past but somehow his financials keep slipping closer to the drain as that ship doesn’t appear to be righting itself any time soon. Added to that is the fact that his health is failing and he’s just not doing all that well. Those bilking him out of his money don’t seem to care much save to preserve whatever public image they can when it comes to showing that they are caring for him and taking his health seriously.
This is a sad testament to the life of such a great man that brought people the world of Marvel comics and some of the greatest heroes ever conceived. To think that those closest to him are the ones taking him for everything is appalling really, but to think that there’s no one that will stand up to them is even worse. Stan Lee is likely not a perfect human being, but he’s still a human being all the same and an old man that can barely do anything for himself at this point it sounds like. From his bouts of pneumonia and other issues he’s been very weak as of late and not able to do much of anything it sounds like. Yet the vultures that have been circling for a while now keep on getting closer without any regard for the fact that he could still have a good deal of life left in him.
It’s sad to say, but when he goes that wonderful universe he helped to create could be the final legacy he leaves behind.
