Meghan Markle and Prince Harry actually have their own wedding-themed beer and it’s ready to roll. People are talking about this wedding and have been ever since the engagement was announced. Some people might have even been making hints at it since the couple got together. It’s kind of inspiring really to see a member of the royal family marrying an American but obviously someone thought it was special enough to fashion a beer after it and start producing enough of the stuff so that the guests won’t end up getting thirsty. Right now though it seems like it would be folly to think that someone wouldn’t find a way to save a crate and begin doling it out on eBay or some other site for an exorbitant amount.
The saddest thing about that is that people would pay, and they would pay big to have just a single bottle of this pale ale to say that they too got to commemorate this wedding in their own way. Of course if a collector was to buy a bottle it might never get opened since you know it would decrease the value. But then again, why would anything like this be worth more than the price it cost to make it? Oh right, because people are willing to buy anything that others deem as important. It’s great that the couple have their own beer to make this moment special, it’s something that makes it just that much greater, but unless they’re planning on going into business it’s kind of frivolous in a way. But you might argue that being royals and being that this is a first for both of them the moment is meant to be given a certain amount of frivolity. You’d be right of course, but those of us that are a little stumped by it would probably hold fast to our own opinions while taking a healthy swallow out of one of these brightly-colored bottles.
Chances are that unless someone is skimming not a single bottle will be released from the wedding unless some is left over, in which case there’s still a chance that nothing will be left to waste unless it’s deemed as no longer useful to the couple or anyone affiliated with them. It still seems like you might see a bottle or more of this on auction eventually just because of what it represents and because people are a bit nutty for stuff like this. Folks want just about anything that belonged to or was inspired by someone famous, as though by holding onto it they’ll keep a part of history alive that would fade from public memory otherwise. Or it’s just an obsession that they won’t cop to since to do so would make them look rather unstable in the wrong people’s eyes.
In any case it’s a way to congratulate the happy couple and give them something special to celebrate their day with. Hopefully Harry and Meghan will partake of the brew to show their thanks.
