Leave it to Will Smith to throw down the gauntlet in a hilarious fashion when someone challenges him to heli-bungee. If you don’t know what heli-bungee is then you need to get on YouTube and look it up. It’s pretty simple you bungee jump from a helicopter and hope and pray that everything works out. It’s a little more technical than that but it’s still a risk since the person is jumping from a helicopter and their weight as well as the force of their recoil could possibly affect the flight of the helicopter just a bit, at least in theory. But Will Smith, who’s done a number of things in his life and has entertained people since his first stint on TV and in movies is not one to back down from a challenge all that often so of course it’s on.
At a glance heli-bungeeing looks like it could be risky and possibly dangerous since there’s that recoil to consider and how far up a person is going to go when it comes to snapping back. The idea is that they won’t go sailing up towards the rotors to be diced up and end their jump in grisly fashion. But there’s still a few factors that have to be taken into account for it to be deemed safe for a person to do. Will isn’t taking any chances of course but seeing a simulation with a drone and his MIB action figure doesn’t seem to be the best representation. It’s enough for him and his friend apparently though. But despite how crazy it might look there is a good chance that it could be a lot of fun and another experience to talk about in his old age when that finally comes. After all, if you have the chance to do something crazy and live to tell about it, why not?
Of course Will has a few stipulations of his own too. One is that it has to be for charity, which is good, fundraising for some needy cause is always a good idea and stuff like this can be used as a platform. The second stipulation is that he has to be done with his latest movie first, since he can’t breach his contract which might include jumping out of a helicopter. The third is that they do it over the Grand Canyon. That third one might have given the challengers a bit of a pause just to think about the spectacle that might be created by doing such a thing. But hey, if you don’t want to step up to the plate then don’t get the idea to challenge someone that might actually take you up on it. Chances are though that the guys that issued the challenge will be on for it. Now all that needs to be done is get Will to the event and make sure that he’s prepared for the jump.
As to using Tom Cruise as the helicopter pilot. Well, it is Will’s stunt now…
