Tommy Wiseau Wants to Play The Joker in the Upcoming Origin Movie

Tommy Wiseau wants to play the Joker in an upcoming origin movie. No, no it’s not a joke, he really does want to play the clown prince of Gotham in an upcoming origin movie, and personally I hope that whoever’s in charge kind of gives him that same little laugh followed by a sincere apology. There’s no need to be all that savage in the act after all. But giving the part to Joaquin Phoenix seems like a borderline bad idea, but he would still be a better option than a guy that can barely act his way through a movie that’s being graciously called a so-bad-it’s-amazing movie. It’s bad enough that The Room is still getting attention in the same manner as a car wreck, but picking this guy to play one of the most iconic villains of all time would be akin to using a hacksaw to shave with. Yes, the metaphor is totally meant that way, as it would be an out and out mess that has no happy ending.

The idea that anyone would even consider it is kind of scary since this movie would tank on the premise of Wiseau being in it as anything but a victim or a glorified extra. The little laugh he seems capable of giving so often wouldn’t be anything like the full on raucous and eerie laughter that the Joker is so well known for. And while some might think that Wiseau is chaotic enough to play the Joker, the guys that have pulled it off have on slight advantage on him, they could actually ACT. They didn’t appear to be trying to memorize their lines or just making things up as they went, even if they were ad-libbing part of it. Wiseau seems lucky to remember the lines he’s been given and kind of sleepwalks his way through The Room.

This is not a good idea, mm-mm, no bueno, and shouldn’t even be a consideration really. If you like Wiseau then I apologize but this doesn’t need to happen. I would honestly pick Leonardo DiCaprio over Wiseau, and I think he would tank it as well, but not in such spectacular fashion. If you’re going to pick someone to play the psychotic clown prince of Gotham, a legendary character in his own right, then you need someone whose credentials aren’t confined to a movie that has even its most diehard fans confused as to what’s happening throughout various scenes in the movie. Joaquin Phoenix still doesn’t seem like the best fit but he’s got Tommy Wiseau beat by several country miles when it comes to the capability of doing this part.

It’s kind of frustrating really to even see that The Room and Tommy Wiseau have been kept around Hollywood this long since they have the feel of a barnacle that just won’t detach even when it’s purpose and reason for being has expired. All I can say at this point is that if the studio wants the Joker to be a true laughingstock, and not in a good way, then Wiseau would be the perfect choice. If they want the movie to be successful, ignore his tweets from now on.
