A Rap Video about the 14 Movies in the “Air Bud” Cinemaverse

Although most people don’t spend a lot of time obsessing about how many “Air Bud” movies were made, the rapper in this video just had to throw his two cents in. It’s an entertaining parody that’s also educational. In case you’ve forgotten, there were a total of fourteen movies in the series made by Disney in the “Air Bud” cinematic universe. Here is why you may anjoy watching it for yourself

Opening scene tells it all

If you’re really tuned it, the opener flashes from a quiet and focused rapper, obviously with something important on his mind, to a shot of the original “Air Bud” DVD. We can see that the wheels are turning in his head with a brilliant lead in to let us know that something big is on its way.

The kick-off

The first words out of the contemplative rappers mouth are “Air Bud.” The tone says it all. While he’s rapping out all of the fourteen movies in the franchise, there’s a hint of disgust that indicates he’s not promoting the movies, but rather poking fun at the ridiculous number that were released. He shows covers for each one made then moves on to name all of the characters who starred in the films (Canines of course).

The good stuff

Our presenting rapper asks the question that a lot of other people are totally on board with…”Why were so many godda**ed “Air Bud” movies Made?” This was followed by “Why did they stop making these “Air Bud” movies?” You can almost interject the opinion that suggests the damage is already done, why stop now? One of the most hilarious parts of the video is next as the rapper shares some great ideas for future movies in the franchise. He points out how ridiculous some of his ideas are without saying it, but rather through the progessoin of the scenes that flip back and forth to his rapping and the images of the Air buddies superimposed into some pretty funny pictures that take us from the ridiculous into the sublime.

Why the video to begin with?

“Air Buds” is good fodder for a parody. Disney made some decent profits on a line that was popular enough with kids, and made a good share of the parents groan. The video hints at the whole profit aspect at the end as he feigns a negotiation with Disney for a cut of the share to allow them to make a few more in the outworn line.

Talking Golden Retrievers

It’s a cute and novel idea and a movie or two could be good family entertainment, particularly for the kids, but to take it around as many blocks as they have was an invitation for something like this video. It’s reminiscent of the “Barney” videos that surfaced after everyone had as much as they could stand of the talking dinosauer. Kids who loved the movies may look back at them after watching this video and smile, now realizing how diffficult it must have been for their parents. Now doubt they were struggling to raise the funds to install a television with DVD player in their rooms to avoid one more “Air Bud” story.

If you haven’t caught the video yet, we highly recommend tuning in. You either loved ’em or hated ’em. It will take you back to fond moments in your childhood or make you glad that you grew up and banned the movies from your home. You can catch the hilarious “Air Buds” rap here:
