Brian Krause is an American actor. Primarily, he is known for his role as Leo Wyatt on Charmed, but it should be mentioned that he has continued to appear in a wide range of productions ever that particular TV show came to a conclusion in 2006. Here are five things that you may or may not have known about Brian Krause:
Took Acting Classes Because of Bullying
It can be said that Krause started acting because of bullying. To be exact, he started taking acting classes at The Actors Workshop when he was still in junior high, which was a way to avoid a bully in the physical education class. There at The Actors Workshop, Krause had the chance to study under R.J. Adams, an actor who went on to become an acting coach of some note.
Studied at Orange Coast College
Upon graduating from high school, Krause went on to study at Orange Coast College. Like its name suggests, Orange Coast College is a community college that can be found at Costa Mesa in Orange County. Nowadays, it is home to more than 20,000 undergraduate students, which makes it one of the biggest community colleges in not just Orange County but also the whole of the state of California. It is interesting to note that Orange Coast College is famous for student transfers, as shown by the number of its students who go on to study at both the University of California and the California State University.
Did a Number of Part-time Jobs
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Krause did a number of part-time jobs before he managed to make it as an actor. For example, he drove a pie truck, which is exactly what it sounds like in that it was a mobile food truck that specialized in serving up pies as opposed to some other kind of food. Furthermore, he did some work hanging drywall, which is the material that sees so much use on both interior walls and interior ceilings.
Starred in Sleepwalkers
Besides Charmed, Krause’s most famous role might be Charles Brady in Sleepwalkers, which was a 1992 horror movie that had the distinction of having been written by Stephen King. The movie was centered around an incestuous mother-and-son pair of energy vampires who possessed various superpowers but were nonetheless vulnerable to cats, which seemed to possess a rather unusual hatred for them. Overall, Sleepwalkers met with a mixed response, with at least one reviewer stating that it started out well but devolved into something much sillier towards the end.
Auditioned for the Part of Andy Trudeau
Krause is best-known for playing the part of Leo Wyatt on Charmed. However, it is interesting to note that when he auditioned for the TV show, he was auditioning for the part of Andy Trudeau. For those who remember nothing about the character, Andy Trudeau was the Charmed Ones’ childhood friend who had grown up to become a police officer. Initially, he served as their connection to the police force, which came to a close when he was killed by a demon in Season One. In the end, the part of said character was played by Ted King rather than Krause, who was chosen for a much longer-lived role instead.
