Black Panther is set to be released in February of 2018. As a result, a fair amount of marketing material has been released for the upcoming movie. In particular, people who have watched the Black Panther trailers might remember a rather striking shot of the titular superhero crouched upon a Lexus LC, which was meant to make a memorable impression.
For those who liked the look of that car, it is interesting to note that Lexus has started accepting orders for a special edition of the Lexus LC meant to honor Black Panther. Said car will feature a special coat pf paint put on using a new technique called Structural Blue, which is interesting because the paint contains no blue pigment whatsoever. Instead, the paint looks blue because of how it manipulates blue light, thus creating a unique visual effect whether the car is in motion or at a stop. In total, no more than 100 of the special edition will be sold in the United States, meaning that interested individuals might want to ask about it sooner rather than later.
What Else Can We Expect for Black Panther?
As for Black Panther, it has the potential to be something interesting. For those who are unfamiliar with the concept, the titular character is T’Challa, who has become the King of the fictional African country of Wakanda with his father’s death in Captain America: Civil War. As a result, he is the one who will be at the head of the country at a time of enormous change. After all, while Wakanda possesses superior technology, changing conditions mean that its chances of successfully concealing that fact from other countries are becoming lower and lower as time passes, meaning that it is time for it to make a critical choice between either maintaining its isolationism or starting to engage with the rest of the world. Something that has resulted in significant tension within the country, particularly since T’Challa is a new king who remains untested. Of course, there are also enemies for T’Challa both within and without Wakanda, with the best example being Killmonger, a Wakanda exile who was spotted wearing a Black Panther suit of his own in the last trailer that was released.
Summed up, Black Panther possesses a lot of potential, but the trailers that have been released so far doesn’t tell us enough information to be able to speculate about what the end product will really be like. The footage shown were never meant to inform but rather to tantalize with what awaits movie-goers once the time comes, consisting of disconnected scenes that were meant to strike awe in the viewers rather than tell them about what was happening. On the plus, Black Panther definitely succeeded in that regard, making it clear that it was not just something other than what has been seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far but also that the characters who populate its setting possess more than enough on-screen presence to carry the movie. If the movie ends up living up to the promise of the trailers, it seems that we will be in for something great, particularly in light of Black Panther’s cultural significance as one of the most famous black superheroes.
