Some of the most famous horror actors are hard to recognize in real life while some are quite easy. For instance, get some of them to smile in the most disturbing way and you might cringe just from the memory. Others are a little harder to tell however. Either way it’s kind of a trip to see some of the scariest beings in movies take off all the makeup and gore to reveal their true human selves. Or at least we think it is. Check out some examples below:
Pennywise-Bill Skarsgard
The moment that Bill Skarsgard does his infamous smile that he admits he creeped his younger siblings out with you see the clown yet again and it’s horrifying.
Mama-Javier Botet
Given the story line of Mama and the fact that she did look somewhat feminine despite the distorted features I would not have thought that it was a man playing her for the effects. That’s good work.
Dren-Delpine Chaneac
I’ve only ever seen the previews to this film and they were creepy enough. The intense stare of Dren is enough to give most anyone nightmares and the idea that she was a creature brought on by genetic tampering is even worse.
Samara-Bonnie Morgan
So this woman can actually move like this?? That’s impressive and disturbing all at the same time. The mere fact that she might not have needed special effects for certain movements is kind of awesome.
Pyramid Head-Roberto Campanella
This had to be one of the creepiest parts of the entire film. What made this character a little confusing however was that he became the protector in the second film. I suppose you’d have to play the game to really understand.
The Creeper-Jonathan Breck
Despite the undeniable scare of the creature it was still kind of a letdown at the end of the film since the creature really looked like a guy in a rubber suit rather than something spawned from the depths of hell. People tend to like it though.
Michelle Crane-Danielle Bisutti
It’s amazing how dressing from another decade and whitening a person’s skin even further can change their look so drastically.
Jether Polk-Finn Wittrock
He’s been on AHS for a few seasons now in Freak Show, Hotel, and Roanoke as one of the murderous Polk’s. Hard to imagine this was him though.
Twisty the Clown-John Carroll Lynch
Despite only being present for one season Twisty the Clown has actually gained a following that’s stronger than some of the other more regular characters.
Mary Shaw-Judy Roberts
“…she had no children only dolls.” Mary Shaw could have been so much more if this movie had gone further than what it did. A vengeful spirit that speaks through her dolls should be a much more attractive movie.
Zombie-Xan Angelovich
Getting noticed on a show like The Walking Dead is kind of hard unless you happen to have been a crucial character BEFORE becoming a zombie. Otherwise you’re just a glorified extra.
Bride in Black-John Fitzpatrick
This image was just flat out terrifying to look at in the film and to be honest I was glad when these moments passed.
Without the pictures of their real selves on the right I do believe that there are some horror monsters here that a lot of people would have believed were played by a different gender.
