You know these types in movies. They’re the ones that work best when alone and are more than capable of clearing a a battlefield all on their lonesome. They’re the warriors that are highly trained and possess special skills that allow them to take on entire armies or overwhelming odds, or both, in order to survive or accomplish a goal. More importantly they’re the guys you want on your side when the stuff hits the fan and there’s nowhere else to turn. Despite the fact that movie magic makes most of what they do possible it’s hard not to be impressed by their ability to level the playing field with a few decisive strokes and a few well-placed punches, bullets, or bombs.
Here are some of the most devastating one-man wrecking crews in films. There are a lot, but these are some of the best.
5. Rama-The Raid
There are so many individual fight scenes from The Raid that it’s hard to pick just one. Rama however is one of the toughest names on this list simply because of the number of people he takes down. Granted, a lot of the extras he takes out couldn’t hold a candle to some of the more skilled bad guys in film, but the number of people coming at him makes it much more impressive. Plus, in this scene he’s trying to help a fellow officer without getting him killed, that’s double tough.
4. Riddick-Riddick
This one scene might not be enough evidence but Riddick is the genuine article. If he has his way he’ll kill you from afar and he’ll do it on the run. But if he has to he’ll go straight up, toe to toe, and there’s only ever been a few that could match him for strength and ferocity. Added to that is the fact that he’s simply not intimidated by anyone or anything. He’s faced off against aliens and humans alike and never flinched. He knows when to run and when to fight, which makes him one of the smarter fighters on this list.
3. Wolverine-X-Men 2
It’s easy to go running into danger when you have a healing factor and an unbreakable skeleton, but the reason why Wolverine is so impressive is that he uses these in defense of the kids at the mansion. The Wolverine in the movies is only slightly different than the one in the comics, but they do share a lot of similarities. No matter how tough he is Wolverine wades into danger without much thought when it comes to protecting those that need his help.
2. The Terminator-T2: Judgement Day
Only a machine could be so precise as to use a minigun to decimate a squad of police cars without harming a single person. Even then you have to think about the probability of a ricochet, but maybe the Terminator could possibly account for this as well. Whatever the case this scene was immensely impressive simply because in the original that parking lot would be littered with bodies by the end.
1. Rambo-Rambo
John Rambo is the kind of guy that no longer wants to fight, but he’s still fully capable. Leave it to those that think they can change the lives of those living in a war zone to need his services, right? Despite their good intentions things go south rather quickly and as you might have guessed Rambo has to come to the rescue of the missionaries as well as the mercenaries sent to rescue them. Despite getting older Rambo shows that he’s still got what it takes to clear the field when necessary. The liberal use of gunfire helps too.
There are so many one-man wrecking crews in Hollywood that it’s tough to name them all. How many can you think of?
