The MTV Music Awards are coming up quickly and many sources are already picking their favorites to win this years top awards. Who it’s going to be is kind of a hard thing to tell but in some categories it seems as though the choice is fairly obvious. However what will happen versus what fans want to see happen is almost always bound to be something different, so we’ll have to wait a couple more days and see how everything is going to turn out. One thing is for certain the picks on this list are likely going to be heavily disputed by some and absolutely loved by others. That’s usually the way of things though.
So here we go.
5. Best Dance-Major Lazer feat. Justin Bieber and MO-Cold Water
I think it takes a more discerning eye than mine to really find the sense in some music videos but once the clip really gets going it’s fairly impressive as the women are finally finding a sense of sync and seem to fold and burst out of the smoke and light that seems to fill the entire area further on into the clip. Up until then it doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense but it’s still good choreography.
4. Migos feat. Lil Uzi Vert-Bad and Boujee
Bad and Boujee seems to be celebrating the emergence into the mainstream after coming from virtually nothing. A lot of people would be impressed by this and in some cases yeah, it’s very impressive to come from nothing and gain everything. But there’s a need to moderate that some folks don’t understand and don’t want to when they finally get to the top is what the message seems to be.
3. Best Collaboration-The Chainsmokers feat. Halsey-Closer
This is the moment we get whether we have everything or nothing is the message I seem to be getting from this one. That might be close or it might not be but it seems fairly accurate. The song is kind of sappy but nice and in all honesty I can see what it got so many views. But it almost has a 2000’s plus 90’s quality to it. Maybe that style is coming back around.
2. Best Video-Bruno Mars-24K Magic
Did Bruno Mars always have an entourage or am I just slipping? Well that last one might be right but it seems like his group is getting a bit bigger as he gets more and more popular. If this was back in the day those standing around him would have been considered clingers, but for the video it definitely works. His fame has only increased in the past few years and it seems to be going even higher as time keeps passing.
1. Artist of the Year-Ed Sheeran
This guy seems to have been all over the map lately and he’s not going away anytime soon. Apart from his unwanted GoT appearance, it wasn’t that bad, his career has been on fire as he’s taken the music industry by storm. This is a good call for whoever nominated him.
There you have it, five picks, five favorites. It could change in the next couple of days but with a couple of the selections it doesn’t seem too likely.
