Halle Berry used to be one of the hottest actresses on the Hollywood scene and in terms of looks she still is. As far as her talent goes however it seems like we really haven’t seen her in a while. To be quite honest she’s been featured in film and TV roles in recent years but her star power seems have dimmed just a bit. She’s still very much an icon, but her hottest roles were likely back when she was still filling the role of Storm in the X-Men movies and possibly the undercover DEA agent in Swordfish. Back then her career was still on the rise and she was almost everywhere you looked. Then she dropped off the radar for a little bit no matter that she was still working.
The hope is that this new film coming out will elevate her back to the level she enjoyed for so many years and breathe new life into her career. She’s set to star in at least three films this year, and one of those involves a subject that is very near and dear to the heart of every mother, the kidnapping of a child.
So will this revive her career, or will be another thriller that gets minimal play? Here’s why we’re thinking it should be a good one.
Halle Berry is due for a big role.
After X-Men:Days of Future Past she wasn’t seen to take on any real notable roles that were of the same caliber that she’d enjoyed in the years prior. Fans of Berry might claim that she’s been just as popular in the last few years as she’s been in her entire career, but the truth is that her big roles kind of died down over the years. This could be the breakout performance she needs to work her way back to the top and resume her role as one of Hollywood’s top icons.
She’s well-suited for the role.
There isn’t a lot of difference between an actress that’s a mother and one that’s not onscreen unless you happen to be a parent and know what to look for. Those that don’t have children might be able to act their way into a person’s heart, but there’s still that slight difference, that look, that mild hesitation that is almost impossible to notice, and the overall feeling you get when you look into someone’s eyes. It might be the parent’s view talking, but Halle Berry has undergone a lot of changes since becoming a mother just like any actress, and it shows.
Kidnapping and human smuggling are hot topics right now.
It’s horrible to think about, but kidnapping and human trafficking are very hot topics at the moment. No film wants to glamorize these heinous actions in any way, but the truth is that a lot of people will go see a kidnapping film out of sheer morbid interest. There is something about the drama that comes with a film such as this that makes many parents want to stand up and say what they would do to the kidnappers if they ever caught up to them, and that in part is why they will watch. They want to see justice be done no matter if it’s legal or street justice.
Despite the nature of the film Halle Berry should be able to rock this movie. It might even get her back on the right track towards super-stardom again.
