Will There be a Season 7 for Once Upon a Time?

How far can you really go with fairy tale drama?  When Once Upon a Time first burst onto the scene it was a novelty.  There had never been a show like it.  Mixing the real world and that of fairy tales was an extremely risky idea but the show proved to be an instant hit.  Fans loved seeing a “real” Snow White and a “real” Wicked Queen.  That first season took everyone by storm.  But as the show has evolved, in order to keep interest they’ve had to introduce more fairy tale characters.  Today the show includes Captain Hook, Belle, and at least 20-30 others.  How much further can they possibly go? This is why there have been rumblings that the show won’t make it past a season 7.  However….

Just recently original series stars Jennifer Morrison (Emma Swan), Lana Parrilla (Regina Mills), and Robert Carlyle (Mr. Gold), along with Colin O’Donoghue (Captain Hook), who joined the show in season 2, are all negotiating to extend their contracts. There’s no word on what that means for fellow originals Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White), Josh Dallas (Prince Charming), and Jared Gilmore (Henry Mills), nor Emilie de Ravin (Belle), who joined later in season 1, but that doesn’t necessarily mean their returns are off the table. ABC declined to comment. ABC has not yet renewed the show for season 7, though OUAT bosses Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis have previously said they don’t see season 6 as the end.

We’re still not 100% certain on the future of the show but we do know that a new episode airs tonight on ABC.  We’ll keep you posted.
