It seems that nearly every episode of The Late Show Stephen Colbert is saying something along the lines of “he’s just X weeks into his Presidency” when referring to Donald Trump. I think this line is going to last for the entire year. Eventually Colbert’s going to be saying “he’s just a year into his Presidency.” However, being only 3 weeks into his Presidency, it feels like the news surrounding Trump has been going on for at least a year.
In last night’s monologue, Colbert highlighted the latest goings on in the Trump administration. Trump has bashed America’s judicial system, Nordstrom for removing his daughter Ivanka’s clothing line, and put his Twitter account on full blast. The media is having a very tough time keeping up with fact checking his tweets. This administration is clearly like anything we’ve ever seen and even late night hosts are having trouble navigating through these murky waters.
So instead of fighting it, Colbert decided to take some questions from none other than Trump himself who took the time out to call Late Night. You know, because Trump doesn’t have any better things to do than watch television and accuse CNN of being a Fake News network.
P.S. the President actually asked about the meaning of a strong dollar and a weak dollar to which Colbert said, “Should a president know stuff or not know stuff?” It’s getting more ridiculous by the day.
