It’ll be double elimination night on Dancing With the Stars… tonight. That didn’t stop the hosts from talking about it ad nauseam last night, repeating how each star had to learn two dances, how much pressure they would were under, etc. It was true. though. Last night was also America’s Choice. where social media chose everything about the pair’s dances. In some cases, they even chose the costumes!
Last night was split up into two rounds: America’s Choice and the trio dances. We’ll get to the trio dances in a second. In the first round, we had some great dances. Due to the fact that we’re so far into the competition, the judges have to be nitpicky. but they were hard-pressed to find mistakes in this round. With Noah and Sharna’s tango, the dance style seemed to fit him because it worked well with his style of movement. I’m not sure how the judges scored it because they usually base it on technique, and he obviously can’t do everything from a technical level, due to his disability. I think he got an unfair score of 31.
Following Noah and Sharna was Chris and Witney, whto the judges called the underdogs of the competition, and I have to agree. The transformation from how Chris was dancing in Week 1 and to how he’s performing now in Week 8 has been an amazing change to witness. Julianne said, “You win the award for the most improved.”
Finally, Nastia, Sasha, and Derek danced beautifully together. Check it out on YouTube. When Sasha swung Nastia under Derek’s legs or when she flipped him over her shoulder, their moves were so clean and crisp. I thought they should have gotten the perfect score of the night. Unfortunately, they only got 36.
Now, the trio dance was meant to show that the star wouldn’t be outperformed by any numbers of professionals. Chris didn’t quite keep up with Witney and Kym. Len was right; Chris was so focused on the next dance step that he forgot the emotions. Bruno did say, though, that, “You really work your butt off out there and I appreciate that so much.” Riker, however, was not overpowered by Allison and Jenna. He was in complete sync with the girls the whole way through his dance, and Julianne noted, “You were leading that routine.” Finally, we come to Nastia, Derek, and Sasha’s dance. As I said before, even if you’ve already seen it, watch it again on YouTube. I know that the judges have said that there’s a story to certain dances. This dance had an actual story! Not only that. but again, the dancing was also very good.
As stated, there’s going to be a double elimination happening tonight, so no one went home last night. However, here’s where all the dancers stand on the scoreboard right now, including both America’s Choice as well as the trio dance’s score.
