Donald Trump’s latest Marine One arrival has sparked a fresh wave of scrutiny after footage appeared to show the president in a tense exchange with the pilots.
The 80-year-old was seen forcefully gesticulating and repeatedly pointing toward the cockpit after landing in New Jersey on Monday, September 7.
“Yesterday, Donald Trump appeared to be angry at the pilot as he exited Marine One! I can tell that the pilot wants to get out of there!” one commenter speculated online.
Amid the growing speculation, a professional lip reader and a body language expert have now offered their interpretation of what Trump may have said during the heated exchange.

The unusual scene unfolded Monday afternoon at Morristown Municipal Airport, where Trump had arrived aboard Marine One after spending the Labor Day weekend in New Jersey.
Rather than immediately walking away from the aircraft, the president remained near the cockpit and appeared to confront the flight crew.
For roughly 30 seconds, he could be seen forcefully moving his hands up and down while repeatedly pointing toward the pilots.
His gestures appeared animated, prompting widespread speculation about what had happened during the flight.
The Daily Beast was the first to analyze the footage, describing the scene as an apparent “mid-afternoon meltdown,” while also noting that the precise reason for Trump’s agitation was unclear.
One possible interpretation, based on the outlet of his hand movements, was that he was expressing frustration about the craft’s flight or a rough landing.

Trump also appeared to abruptly end the interaction before grabbing the handrails and making his way down the aircraft’s steps.
Two Marines stationed on either side of the stairs appeared to salute as the president walked past them, yet Trump did not visibly return the salute before continuing across the tarmac.
The salute itself carries particular significance in modern presidential tradition.
Ronald Reagan introduced the practice of presidents returning military salutes in 1981, and subsequent presidents have continued the custom as a visible sign of respect toward members of the armed forces.
Trump’s apparent failure to return the salute therefore became another point of criticism online, with some viewers questioning the contrast between his treatment of the Marines and his frequent emphasis on showing respect to service members.

However, she believed a later portion of the interaction was clearer.
Around the 12-second mark, Hickling told The Mirror US that Trump appeared to say, “That’s enough for me today.”
As he turned away from the aircraft, she believed he then allegedly added, “We’re done.”
The interpretation offers a possible glimpse into what Trump was saying during the visibly tense exchange, but it is important to stress that lip reading from video is inherently uncertain.
The clip also caught the attention of body-language expert Judi James, who examined Trump’s movements and demeanor surrounding the exchange.
James pointed to his animated gestures and repeated finger-jabbing as signs of apparent irritation.

Judi told The Mirror US, “Trump dramatically fails to salute the waiting marines but it’s the emotional sandcastle that builds to that moment of apparent inattention that is interesting. He walks away from the helicopter looking moody and preoccupied.”
“His shoulders are down, and although he thinks to pull his jacket together, it doesn’t close or appear able to fasten. The conversation with presumably the pilot shows non-verbal signs that could be translated as irritation or anger, although without Trump’s facial expression being visible it would be hard to get the whole story from balancing his cluster signals.”
She concluded, “When a ‘conversation’ is as animated and a point made as repetitively as this, you would expect to see conciliatory signals like a grin or a final friendly wave to balance the hand gestures, but there’s no apparent sign of any smile beneath the cap as Trump turns here.”
As of this writing, what actually triggered the tense exchange with the Marine One crew remains unclear.
