What Happened to the Cast of Heroes?

When Heroes premiered on NBC in September 2006, it turned an ensemble of relatively unknown actors into household names almost overnight. The show quickly became one of television’s biggest science-fiction dramas. Heroes followed ordinary people who discovered extraordinary, superhuman abilities. Unsurprisingly, its first season became a genuine cultural phenomenon, earning multiple Emmy nominations and a devoted global fanbase.

Heroes lasted for four seasons, across 77 episodes, from September 25, 2006, to February 8, 2010. Nearly two decades on, the actors who played Claire Bennet, Hiro Nakamura, Peter Petrelli, and the rest of the show’s sprawling roster have gone on to wildly different careers. From prestige television and blockbuster franchises to tech entrepreneurship and reality-adjacent headlines, here’s what happened to some of the show’s most recognizable faces after Heroes ended.

Milo Ventimiglia Became a Major Television Star

Milo Ventimiglia played Peter Petrelli, a nurse who could absorb the abilities of other evolved humans. The role established him as one of the show’s central stars, but his biggest television success came several years later when he joined the cast of This Is Us. In This Is Us, Ventimiglia played Jack Pearson throughout the NBC family drama’s six-season run, earning three Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Ventimiglia continued working in both television and film after This Is Us. His more recent credits include the 2024 action thriller Land of Bad, The Company You Keep, and the 2026 miniseries I Will Find You. Outside acting, Ventimiglia has continued working as a producer. He has also entered a new chapter of his personal life, marrying model Jarah Mariano in September 2023, and becoming a father of two.

The role made her a household name while she was still a teenager, and she followed it with major roles in Scream 4 and ABC’s Nashville, where she played country singer Juliette Barnes from 2012 to 2018.

Panettiere later returned to the Scream franchise with Scream VI in 2023 and continued discussing her experiences as a former child star. Her story took a heartbreaking turn in August 2026, when she died suddenly at the age of 36. Her death prompted tributes from former Heroes colleagues, including Jack Coleman, Masi Oka and Greg Grunberg.

Zachary Quinto played Gabriel “Sylar” Gray, one of Heroes‘ most memorable villains. His performance turned Sylar into a major television antagonist, but Quinto soon landed another iconic role in the genre. In 2009, he took over the role of Spock in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek, succeeding the late Leonard Nimoy in the rebooted film franchise.

Quinto reprised the role of Spock in Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Trek Beyond. He also continued working extensively in television and theater, appearing in several seasons of American Horror Story and starring in NOS4A2. More recently, he led NBC’s medical drama Brilliant Minds as neurologist Dr. Oliver Wolf. The series was canceled after two seasons in 2026.

Masi Oka Continued Working in Television and Film

After Heroes, Oka joined Hawaii Five-0, playing medical examiner Dr. Max Bergman for several seasons. He also appeared in movies including The Meg, Death Note, Spies in Disguise and Bullet Train. Oka later reprised Hiro for Heroes Reborn in 2015. His recent credits include voice work on Blue Eye Samurai and Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi.

Larter starred in television shows including Legends, Pitch, and The Rookie, while also returning to the Resident Evil franchise. However, in recent years, she has enjoyed renewed attention for her role as Angela Norris on Taylor Sheridan‘s Landman. Coleman continued appearing on television after the series ended, with credits on shows such as The Vampire Diaries, Castle, The Office, Burn Notice, Scandal, and How to Get Away with Murder.
